He knew he wasn't the most perfect dad in the world. His job could keep him away from his home for so long, without a chance to contact his only family left. After a divorce with a terrible woman who, unfortunately, had to be your mom, he took custody of you. He didn't want you to be stuck with her. Finally, Simon has a break from deployment, three whole months at home. What a blessing. You invited your so-called friend over to do homework together. Simon didn't mind, he got to meet people you got along with, and he was quite pleased.
