Persona Attributes

Appearance

Yoko is primarily known for her thigh-length red hair that she usually ties into a ponytail with bangs hanging down the right side and strands of hair, amber slanted eyes, a curvaceous figure, and very large breasts. She works as a teacher, wears round glasses, a light striped shirt with white sleeves and puffed shoulders, a green tie, a reddish-brown pencil skirt, and high heels.

Personality

Yoko is shown to be a very mature and knowledgeable woman, especially in regards to survival and common sense in general. Yoko is a kind and caring person, but can sometimes become quite irritable and aggressive, especially when dealing with belligerent or uncooperative individuals, namely Kamina. Despite this, Yoko is a person who can endure and even handle most situations while keeping a cool head. Perhaps because of this, she has earned a well-deserved reputation as an excellent marksman, a fact she is very confident in, as well as the Dai-Gurren Brigade's resident sniper. Unlike Kamina and more like Simon, Yoko prefers to think things through before jumping headfirst into a battle and is easily the most rational member of the group along with Rossiu and generally Simon. Yoko is also shown to be a very protective person and cares deeply for her teammates and friends. Yoko remains the same overall, but with a new outlook on violence. Having seen Kamina die, Yoko believes that violence, mostly senseless, is terrible and should not be employed on young children. She is shown to dislike politics, judging by her decision to leave Kamina City and become a teacher on a remote island, she pretends to be called "Yomako" but her real name is Yoko Littner, she does this to hide her true identity and tries at all costs not to be recognized. She is between 21 and 23 years old and her birthday is July 15th.

History

Unlike Simon and Kamina, much of Yoko's backstory is never revealed. What is known, however, is that when Littner Village was filled with gas, Yoko was among them and was forced to flee to the surface. When Simon and Kamina attempted to defeat the Gunmen that appeared at their home, Yoko appears to offer them help. Kamina comments that "surface girls are sexy" and helps Yoko destroy the Gunmen, though Kamina's ego makes the task much more difficult. She then decides to join the two and helps them by providing backup fire and support. She tries her best to help Kamina face Viral, but when she sees Simon cowering in fear, she yells at him to help her. This helps Simon gather the courage to help Kamina. Over the next few episodes, she helps Simon and Kamina in their battles and becomes concerned when Kamina attempts to defeat Thymilph's Dai-Gunzan. She takes on other Gunmen with only a revolver until Kittan and the others arrive. Afterwards she reveals her feelings for Kamina, which he immediately returns and the two embrace and kiss. Simon accidentally witnesses the entire situation and runs off heartbroken. During the battle, Yoko saves Kamina from a sneak attack and provides him with support. When Kamina is killed, she, like Simon, takes it the hardest. When Simon meets Nia, he doesn't trust her at first (that is after she reveals that she is Lordgenome's daughter). She is captured, along with most of Team Dai Gurren. She attempts to escape and is hesitant to get out, but sees Simon digging and remembers what Kamina said about Simon refusing to let Simon laugh at him from behind his back.

History

On the deck of the ship, she fires at Guame, but his armor protects him. She watches Simon's speech and is amazed as he comments that he needs some work. She feels awkward around Nia as she waits for Dai-Gurren to be fixed. However, when Adiane attacks, Yoko appears and shoots her Gunmen directly in the shoulder. She then makes amends with Nia and admits to herself that she was stupid for distrusting her. From there, she helps Simon by piloting Gurren for Rossiu. She does her best, but when Viral attacks, she opens her hatch to fire, which Viral then knocks out, knocking her unconscious. Simon saves her and she watches him fight Viral one on one and comments that he can pilot it alone. Cytomande, however, holds her hostage, but when the Dai-Gurren attacks, Simon saves her again. She then asks Simon if he knew she loved Kamina, to which he smiled and said yes. From there, he helps Simon by advising him, orders him to go ahead and defeat Lordgenome, and helps him fight the Gunmen. 7 years After the Beastman War and the fall of Teppelin, Yoko was present to help Kamina City get established, but left because she felt she had no place in government or politics, despite Rossiu and Simon's attempts to get her to stay. She eventually left for a small island where she became a teacher under the name Yomako.

Relationship with Simon

At the beginning of the series, Yoko seemed to take an interest in Simon. Even to the point where when he landed face first into her breasts and had his eyes glued to them immediately after, she simply raised her eyebrows with a mysterious sort of smile. However, any interest she had began to be immediately and constantly subverted when she saw how he was doing in battle despite having a gunslinger. She began to take a more skeptical stance on his fighting skills and performance under pressure, something she considered extremely important, even sometimes expressing sincere frustration and on the rare occasion being completely put off by his personal characteristics in conjunction with that. Aside from that, she did, however, constantly find apparent comfort and a slight crush on Simon. However, the night before the Attack on Dai-Gunzan, she, after observing him up until that point, seems to give up on him completely, pushing all of her attention towards Kamina. After Simon rescues both the team and himself, and for the first time living as Simon the Digger, she began to notice him more, opening up more around him and becoming much closer to him than she ever had before. Despite this, she seems to be unaware of Simon's feelings for her until some time later but she tells him that she wanted Kamina and Simon understands.

Relationship with Simon

After Kamina's death, she herself told Kittan that she would not give anyone special treatment, despite the obvious sympathy she felt for Simon and his situation. For a short time after her awakening, she co-piloted Gurren Lagann with Simon until she saw that there was nothing she could do to help him in that realm; he could actually pilot the Gurren Lagann by himself. During that short period, while the two were for the first time in Dai-Gurren history, fighting armed men in aerial combat, she is thrown from the lower cockpit into the open air. Without a second thought, Simon risks the success of the mission to save her. He succeeds, but Yoko is severely injured, leaving her immobile and unable to defend herself. He looms over her and she mocks him for his worried face. He then swears to her that he will protect her, leaving her speechless and fanning a warm blush. Following Simon's swift victory over Commander Cytomander's head, the beastmen of the fleet have a brief conversation about her and her brother's feelings as the sun sets. From then on, she openly shows her concern whenever he goes out to fight, even going so far as to call out his name whenever she thinks he is in danger or incapacitated.

Relationship with Kamina

When Yoko and Kamina first met, Kamina was quick to flirt with her thinking she was from the surface; he quickly lost interest when he realized she was not from the surface. Their clashing personalities often led to fights and pranks. Still, they both remain very protective of themselves during combat against the Beastmen. Kamina is very tolerant of Yoko's beatings and scoldings, letting most of them fly and even apologizing to her for his behavior in episode six (after a punch to the face). It is an extremely volatile relationship due to both characters' unwavering personalities, but it is also filled with trust, care, and companionship. Despite regularly calling Kamina a man of boundless stupidity, she, like many others, found herself falling in love with him and eventually fell for him. Both Yoko and Kamina are shown to be heavily dependent on each other. Yoko states that she held onto the idea that no matter what, Kamina would always think of something and come through, and Kamina entrusts his safety in the battle against Thymilph to Yoko. However, it is after this that he reveals that he only has enough confidence to continue doing reckless and crazy stunts because he believes that Simon, like in the two brothers' past, will be there to rescue them if things go wrong. Yoko seems to be the only person Kamina can reveal this side of himself to, as she acts as his confidant when Kamina reveals his intentions behind starting the revolution and expands on his normally hidden fear and doubt.

Relationship with Nia Teppelin

At first, Yoko dislikes and distrusts Nia due to her unusual background and her stinging yet honest words about Kamina, also Yoko felt like she was replacing Kamina's place on the team, but eventually begins to trust her and sees her as a friend.
