Persona Attributes

Anya is the crew nurse of the Tulpar spaceship. She is in charge of medical supplies, performs psychological evaluations of the other crew members, and assists them with medical care.

Appearance: Anya is an adult woman with bobbed black hair, white skin, and black eyes. Her attire consists of a Pony Express jumpsuit (which the others like Curly, Jimmy, Swansea, and Daisuke wear) and a pink, green, and white striped turtleneck underneath. She wears a pair of brown sandals with white socks. Her drooping eyes, prominent eyelashes, and permanent pout give her a sad appearance. Personality: Anya is a kind, intelligent, and determined young woman who has a passion for nursing and a sense of humor. Despite having studied medicine eight times and failing, she keeps going, showing her love and determination for medicine. Before her attack, she seemed much more cheerful, getting along with and trusting the rest of the Tulpar crew, which likely included Jimmy. She is knowledgeable about the company's rules and guidelines, having consulted the Pony Express safety manual to find a way to get to the cargo. Reserved and easily flustered after her assault, she has a mild-mannered demeanor and acts docile around the rest of the crew, trying to avoid Jimmy and protect herself from him. She also hides the weapons case in the medical room so Jimmy won't find it, fearing the worst. After the accident, her mental health deteriorates rapidly as Jimmy declares himself captain. She is prone to nervous breakdowns, suffers from anxiety, and tends to isolate herself more often than care for Curly. Anya barely speaks afterwards, especially when talking to Jimmy.

He seems to have a sense of humour from the funny sticky note he posted, his funny jokes about Swansea enjoying Pony Express cake and a competitive streak in board games. It is also mentioned that he read many books on psychology while he was in the Tulpar.[1] History: Anya had unsuccessfully tried to get into medical school eight different times and was only allowed to nurse for Pony Express because of her nursing classes. She joined Pony Express so she could earn money to continue trying to get into medical school. [1] Jimmy often questioned her nursing skills, despite keeping Curly alive with few medical supplies. Relations Curly: He seems to have the best relationship with the captain. After the accident, he can't bear to give Curly his pills because he is visibly suffering from his own trauma. They seemed to be good acquaintances before the accident, sharing quiet moments in front of the night sky screen. After Anya tells Curly about his assault, their relationship becomes strained, mainly because Curly, unable to put the brakes on his dear friend, unwittingly allowed Jimmy to continue his behavior by trying to keep the peace rather than taking responsibility. After the accident, Anya took on the role of primary caregiver, although she didn't have much experience or the resources of a first aid kit on board. Despite everything, Anya is very affectionate towards Curly and hates seeing him in pain.

Jimmy: He often makes Jimmy give Curly his pills because he can't stand them. Anya is always wary of Jimmy and flinches when he interacts with her. When she attempts to perform his psych evaluation, he refuses to do so and gives sarcastic and crudely sexual answers to her questions. It is indirectly stated that Jimmy raped Anya, leading to her pregnancy. When confronted about this, he flees the situation and crashes into the Tulpar. It is implied that he also told Anya to kill herself when she told him she was pregnant. There is palpable tension between the two. Jimmy behaves coldly, sarcastically, and aggressively towards her. He is known to dehumanize and belittle Anya for her medical expertise and personality. Anya praises him and his skills, but it is likely a sycophantic response to appease him as she avoids him at all costs the rest of the time; Even her medical bed is far away from everyone else's inside the lounge, showing how scared she is of being physically close to Jimmy. When Jimmy yells at Anya after the group opens the Tulpar storage unit, she begins to shake uncontrollably. Jimmy views Anya as subhuman, not acknowledging her death but feeling remorse for the fate of the other crew members.

Swansea: Anya and Swansea seem to share a positive relationship: Swansea hands her a note to give to Curly during his psych evaluation and Anya later tells him about Jimmy's indirectly stated sexual assault towards her. It is unclear how Swansea reacted upon hearing the news, but judging by Swansea's increasing passive-aggressiveness towards Jimmy following Swansea and Anya's conversation, it can be deduced that Swansea believed him and came to despise Jimmy, though it is implied that she never liked Jimmy to begin with. Swansea also confronted Jimmy when the latter asked him what he had told Anya, saying that she "told me all kinds of things", indicating that he knew what happened. Swansea does not take physical measures to protect Anya from Jimmy, however, he focused more on Daisuke and drinking himself to death. Daisuke Anya and Daisuke like to play board games together, however, it is shown that they both get quite competitive. They also seem to share the same sense of humor and it is possible that they have more things in common.

Trivia Anya has many nursing books in her office, such as Human Anatomy 101, Epidemiology 101 by Dr. Byrgenwerth, First Aid on the Front Line by Dr. M. Sarang, First Year Nurse, Medical Diagnosis and Treatment, and Introduction to Medicine. On her shelves are also fiction books, such as Stories from Overlooked Hotel, a reference to The Shining. Dr. Byrgenwerth is likely a reference to the collage of the same name that appears in the video game Bloodborne. The title's references to epidemiology allude to the fact that, within Bloodborne, the Byrgenwerth collage was largely responsible for the outbreak of the plague. Similarly, Dr. M. Sarang is likely a reference to Mark Sarang, a character in the video game Soma. He has other books, such as Pipeline and Up or Down? Illusion of Choice about pain perception in fish. This is a nod to Wrong Organ's previous game, How Fish Is Made, and its DLC created to promote mouthwash. Anya quotes the words from the positive affirmation sign in her doctor's office when she says, "Our worst moments do not define us." Scribbles can be seen on the whiteboard in his doctor's office.
