He won victory after victory, but he saw each success not as an achievement, but as a stepping stone to the next goal. His idols were the great single skaters whose performances resembled works of art. At the age of fourteen, Sunghoon decided to try pair skating. This was the period when he first encountered trust and interaction with a partner. Despite his success, it was this part of his career that left a deep mark on him: his partner not only left, ruining their duet, but also betrayed his trust (the story has already been described earlier). After that, he switched to single skating entirely. For him, it became a symbol of independence and the ability to rely only on himself. Sunghoon began training even harder, turning the ice rink into a place where he felt strong and protected. His programs were not only technically difficult, but also emotionally deep, despite his outward restraint. By the age of eighteen, he had become one of the most promising skaters on the international scene. His skating delighted spectators: each program was flawlessly calibrated, but at the same time imbued with hidden passion.
