Rem

Appearance

Rem is a beautiful young woman of short stature with fair skin and medium-length blue hair that usually covers her left eye, she has sky blue eyes and unlike her sister Ram, Rem has rounder eyes. Another difference with her twin sister is that Rem has a larger chest than her sister. Rem commonly wears a black and white maid outfit.

Personality

Rem is a quiet and reserved person, though she is very observant and sometimes tends to have inferiority complexes towards other people. She tends to speak politely and sometimes acts without thinking. She has both respect to the point of adoration and guilt towards her sister for an incident in the past. Because of her respect and guilt towards her sister, she used to think of herself as inferior. After Subaru saves her, she falls deeply in love with him, becoming one of his most loyal followers. Rem will stick by him no matter what, even if Subaru rejects himself. After having awakened from a nearly two-year slumber, Rem's memories were completely erased, leaving her in a state similar to Crusch's at the end of Arc 3. She is very wary of everyone, especially Subaru, even going so far as to attempt to strangle him twice and set up decoys and traps to escape from him, as she considers him dangerous due to a combination of the overwhelming Witch's Miasma being given off by him following his numerous deaths, as well as her resentment of the last Archbishop of Gula and refusal to help her in her current state, because Rem views Louis as an innocent child.

History

Rem and Ram were born in the Oni Village, daughters of Quark and Tamae. The twins were forbidden in the village, so the leader of the village tried to kill them, but Ram, aware of what was happening, showed her power and, seeing Ram's immense power, the twins were allowed to live. Rem grew up being the shadow of her sister Ram, since she was a prodigy that people considered the second coming of the Oni god. Even so, Ram never abandoned Rem and encouraged her not to be influenced by others. At some point the Oni village was attacked by the Witch Cult, the cult exterminated all the Oni with the exception of Rem and her sister Ram who fought with the cultists dominating the fight. And in a carelessness of Ram to protect Rem, Ram loses his horn. Later Roswaal L Mathers who was passing by the place rescued Rem and Ram since the entire village was destroyed and their parents and the other citizens were killed by the cult. Rem later became a maid at the Roswaal Mansion along with her sister. Due to Rem's guilt over the loss of her sister's horn and her inferiority complex worsening, she from then on tried to be better than Ram in everything she could to be his replacement, but had become a person with little self-esteem and had developed a very antisocial character.

Rem's Skills

Magic User (魔法, Mahō): Rem can use water magic of a very high level. Roswaal taught Rem how to use this magic and it is estimated that her skill is above average. Healing Magic: Rem conjures water mana that heals her own or others' wounds on contact, however it only affects physical wounds. Huma (ヒューマ): Allows her to create barriers of shining water that block other projectiles or types of magic unless the incoming magic is stronger than the shield. Huma (エル・ヒューマ): Rem fires two or more ice spikes from her hands and can cut through human flesh. Ul Huma (ウル・ヒューマ): Rem materializes and fires three pillars of ice, each as thick as a hundred spears grouped together. Al Huma (アル・ヒューマ): It is a magic attack that Rem performs to throw a large sharp ice crystal. It is similar to the ones that Emilia does. Oni Blood (鬼の血族, Oni no Ketsuzoku): As she belongs to that race, Rem can transform into an Oni, manifesting a single horn on her forehead. The horn increases her physical capabilities and functions as a gate that gathers mana from the atmosphere. Rem was so dangerous with her transformation that she was able to fight off the wolgarms for almost a day, but would lose control. Later, when fighting Hakugei, she transformed again and was shown to have learned to handle her power without harming her allies. Although if an Oni pushed themselves too hard while manifesting their horns, the recoil was likely to weaken them. As a twin, Rem was born with a single horn that appeared smaller than that of an average demon, meaning that her power in her Oni state was lower than that of her kin.

Melee Combat Skills

Hand-to-hand combat: Despite her appearance as a simple maid, Rem knows how to defend herself and is able to fight without taking a single break, as she faced the Wolgarms and the Witch Cult for an entire day without stopping, even confronting Hakugei on her own. Her transformation into Oni increases her power, and this makes her even more dangerous. Synesthesia: An ability she shares with her sister Ram, with effects similar to Subaru's Cor Leonis. It allows them to share their feelings with each other through telepathy. During Arc 6 it is seen that it can also be used to transmit mana and share physical burdens (similar to Cor Leonis), allowing Rem to effectively serve as a support and "Ram's horn". However, the enormous shared tension can generate serious physical consequences for Rem, with the effect working unilaterally due to Ram's absence of a horn. Equipment: Ram uses a morning star. Dawnstar: It is a weapon made of a giant metal spiked ball on long metal chains. He can use both the ball and the chains for offense, as both are capable of inflicting devastating wounds on his opponents.
