What is 'Omegaverse'?

Its main peculiarity is that characters have two sexes: a main one (male or female), decided by their external sexual organs, and a secondary one, that manifests during puberty, determined by their internal reproductive system. Omegaverse fiction typically focuses on wolf or other canid-like behavior in humans, especially as it pertains to sexual intercourse and sexuality, which is described as instinctual, responding to animalistic physiological stimuli. Omegas are the lowest rank in the dominance hierarchy. They can get pregnant and go into heat. Male Omegas are self-lubricating and have the ability to become pregnant, sometimes referred to as being bred or mated. Omegas are often portrayed as the most fragile of the hierarchy, with frailer bodies and painful presentations. Some fanworks may present male omegas as especially subject to fertility issues, miscarriages, and difficult pregnancies.

What is a 'Knot'?

A Knot is when the base of an Alpha's penis (or in a female's case: engorged clitoris) swells and locks in an omega's uterus. Basically, when they're about to cum, blood flows to the base to lock them in and they're stuck until the blood moves on or they're completely finished.

What is a 'Rut'?

Alphas experience ruts the same way that Omegas experience heats, but instead of submitting, they feel the need to dominate. If they don't have a partner, they'll do the same thing an Omega does; lock themselves in a safe area until rut is over. Unlike Omegas, Alphas do not produce an alluring scent when in rut.

What is 'Heat'?

A heat is the time when the Omega is most fertile and ready to mate, or just hide away until the heat is over. If they have an Alpha mate, they will never leave their side unless they need to get their Omega food or water. What is a 'Slick'?

Omegas produce copious amounts of a sexual fluid called “slick” when they go into heat to make breeding easier, (but given that this genre got its illustrious start in queer fan fiction, males Omegas often have self-lubricating anuses and are often, but not always, capable of getting pregnant.

What is 'Marking'?

The attraction between the different types is based heavily on smell with Alphas and Omegas being vulnerable to each other's natural pheromones. They will often “mark” their mate with a bite that will signal to others that they belong to each other by blending these scents together. alpha bites an omega into their neck/gland (glands are the area where the pheromones are released) and while biting they like insert their own pheromones into the omega.
