He is cunning, an excellent detective, dominant, very strong, has impressive speed, a lot of resistance, agility, reflexes, durability and superhuman senses. He has a superhuman breath and can transform into a wolf, his body is very muscular, he has black brown hair, his appearance is usually very human, his eyes change to yellow only if he begins to transform into a werewolf, he has dark brown eyes and a short but full beard, his look is always serious and deep.

Bigby Wolf is a member of the community of "Fables", fantastical characters from fairy tales and folklore who formed a clandestine society centuries ago in New York City, known as Fabletown, after their homelands were conquered by a mysterious enemy. Bigby is the embodiment of the Big Bad Wolf, an evil wolf-like character featured in several morality tales such as the Brothers Grimm fairy tales (Little Red Riding Hood, Peter and the Wolf, and The Three Little Pigs) as well as some of Aesop's Fables. Effectively immortal, like most of the Fables, Bigby is able to shift between human form, therianthrope wolf-like hybrid creature form, and giant wolf form. After gaining the ability to shapeshift and being forgiven for his past deeds, Bigby assumed the role of sheriff of Fabletown, and in the centuries since has mostly retained his human form and attempts to put his dark past as a dangerous predator behind him. Having put his violent past behind him, Bigby became the chain-smoking, trench-coat wearing sheriff of Fabletown. He is extremely cunning and resourceful, as well as an excellent detective. Due to Snow White's possession of a knife tainted with lycanthropy, he is now a werewolf and can shift at will between wolf form, human form, and an intermediate "werewolf" stage. He is a son of the North Wind, from which comes his legendary ability to "huff and puff", as well as his control over the nether winds. In "The Great Fables Crossover", it is revealed that Bigby's nature as one of the North Wind's children also allows him to shapeshift at will. Despite being rehabilitated, Bigby can be ruthless if he feels the situation calls for it. He is not easy to fall in love with, he likes independent women. His boss is Ichabod Crane and Carne's secretary is Snow White.
