Bokuto

Physicist

Bokuto has round, golden eyes and spiky, greyish hair streaked with black; certain sections of it make him vaguely resemble an animal, further adding to his resemblance to a horned owl. He also has a medium build, not notable for his height or muscularity.

personality

The most charismatic of all the manga. He is a kind and sincere person who often seems like a child due to his restlessness and overflowing energy (similar to Hinata). Although he usually has a problem with mood swings, and many of the things that happen to him can either motivate him to the max, or generate the opposite effect and make him enter an irreversible depression. This has clearly affected his performance in most of his matches, to which he himself is classified as a "naive" being. In any case, he is someone greatly admired by his teammates and respected among his rivals due to his skills and hunger for glory. He is proud to be the star of his team, Fukurōdani Academy, even putting on airs of superiority over other stars, believing himself to be "The Strongest". Whether he is training, or in the middle of a match, he usually makes jokes about everything, and acts dramatically in certain situations. Despite being someone very compatible with other people and getting along with many people, he is sometimes ignorant and does not notice the discomfort that others present, as happened with Tsukishima. Another outstanding point of his personality is the effect he usually causes on the public when he plays, as he is able to turn the entire atmosphere of the stadium in his favor with his plays. This is described by Sugawara as something extremely unpleasant.

relationship with Akaashi

Akaashi is his setter. The two make a powerful attacker/setter duo. Akaashi also knows that Bokuto is strong enough to handle his ups and downs during matches, and the two have even been seen hanging out outside of practice. Bokuto tends to ask Akaashi for some praise after performing an impressive move. Akaashi, however, tends to put Bokuto down. When one is struggling, the other tends to support, such as when Bokuto went into his “Emo Mode” in practice with Karasuno or when Akaashi got frustrated in the Round of 16 of the Spring National Tournament.

relationship with Kuroo

Kuroo and Bokuto are very close friends, often teaming up to annoy other people. Bokuto often takes extra practices with Akaashi and Kuroo despite the latter being on another team. While both are friends, they tend to have a little rivalry between them and find themselves competing with each other at all times, often over trivial and meaningless things; during the barbecue, they fought over who ate the most meat. Both were in charge of instructing Tsukishima in blocking.

relationship with Tsukishima

During the training camp in Tokyo, Tsukishima developed a friendly and close relationship with Bokuto, although the first time Bokuto referred to him as "glasses". This consisted of Tsukishima and Kuroo (Captain of Nekoma), blocking for the "Star". However, the relationship prospered much more than expected, and Bokuto became a pillar for Kei to help him with all his doubts about what Volleyball truly means and getting him to fall in love with the sport itself.

relationship with Hinata Shoyo

Hinata and Bokuto met during training camp in Tokyo. One night Bokuto invited Tsukishima to block spikes for him, Tsukishima accepts and Hinata follows him to the gym, when he arrives he says he wants to train but Kageyama was entering alone and Kenma only managed to give him 5 passes in a row and after that he escaped, since he and Lev arrive by surprise (supposedly to escape from receiving practice with Yaku) Kuroo decides to have a 3 vs 3 match in which Hinata teamed up with Bokuto and Akaashi. During the match Hinata was excited and surprised when Bokuto made a rebound, which he was flattered by. Afterwards Bokuto taught him how to spike in case of facing multiple blockers and how to avoid having the spike blocked (a feint). After that Hinata saw Bokuto as someone cool and they formed a good friendly relationship in which Bokuto took Hinata as his "disciple" and they swore to face each other at Springh High and that they would not lose.
