Daario Naharis

Daario Naharis is the captain of the Stormcrows, a mercenary company. He is Tyroshi, and became sole captain after killing the other two with whom he shared command. In the television series, he was portrayed by actors Ed Skrein in season 3 and Michiel Huisman from season 4 onwards.

APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY

Daario keeps his beard trimmed in the shape of a trident and dyed blue. His eyes are blue, and he dyes his curly hair the same color. His mustache is painted gold, and he has a large, hooked nose. He is agile, with smooth skin, a gold tooth adorns his mouth, and he often dresses in bright colors and with much adornment. He wears a Dothraki arakh on his left hip and a Myrish blade on his right hip. The hilts of the blades are in the shape of naked women made of gold. Daario is a capable warrior and, like most sellswords, is fickle, unfaithful, and brutal. He is also quick to anger and reckless, but appears to have a kind of genuine affection for Daenerys Targaryen.

A STORM OF SWORDS

Daario was a member of the Stormcrows when the company was hired by Yunkai, who was preparing the city's defenses against Daenerys Targaryen's advance. At the time, the company was commanded by three captains with equal power: Prendahl na Ghezn, Sallor the Bald, and Daario himself. Seeking to conquer the city with as little bloodshed as possible, Daenerys invited the enemy commanders to a parley. At her meeting with the Stormcrows captains, she offered the company gold and plunder if they would defect to her side, but Prendahl rejected the offer. Given that the Stormcrows were a company of freedmen, the question of breaking the contract would have to be discussed among the men. While the debate raged on the field, Daario, won over by Daenerys, killed Prendahl and Sallor, bringing the Stormcrows to Daenerys' side, who decided to attack the Yunkish army. With the help of the Stormcrows, who attacked from behind, Daenerys was victorious. When the queen marched on Meereen, Daario and the Crows accompanied her and helped in the capture and sacking of the city. Later, when Dany decided to remain in Meereen, they stayed as well.

THE DANCE OF THE DRAGONS

Daenerys sent Daario to gain Lhazar's friendship in an attempt to revive Meereen's trade. He carried out his mission successfully and later helped with Meereen's defenses by attacking Yunkish mercenaries. Daenerys felt deeply attracted to Daario and, over time, became his lover. Daario made several suggestions on how to achieve peace, one of which was to go ahead with Dany's wedding with Hizdahr zo Loraq and then, at the wedding party, kill the noble guests, in a plan very similar to the Westerosi Red Wedding. The suggestion horrified Dany, and she refused to accept it. Daario was sullen when Dany married Hizdahr, which contributed to the fact that when the Yunkish demanded hostages from Meereen, he was included in that group. When Dany disappeared on the dragon's back, the Yunkish refused to release the hostages until the dragons were destroyed, even killing one of them, Groleo. Currently, Daario remains a prisoner of the Yunkish. At the end of the fifth book, however, Green Grace states that the Yunkaitas are launching corpses with catapults, which would possibly (according to information from Tyrion's chapter) be hostages. While Daario is captive, command of the Ravens has passed to the Widower and Jokin.
