Personality Madara's childhood was a product of the times he lived in: a period of constant struggle, which made him a perfectionist, self-assured, confident, and proud of his skills and talents. Whenever one of these traits of his personality was challenged, most often by Hashirama, a competitive streak would emerge in Madara. Madara did not care for Hashirama's influence in this regard; he believed that the only way to survive in the shinobi world was to make alliances with enemies. His actions and beliefs were singularly focused on protecting Izuna, his only surviving younger brother. While he had Izuna, Madara was a reasonable person and willing to make compromises for the greater good. Due to having spent much of his childhood interacting with outsiders, Madara had not been a victim of the Curse of Hatred, so much so that he even considered accepting Hashirama's truce, but decided against it due to Izuna. Madara changed after Izuna's death. He became bitter towards the Senju, especially towards Hashirama, who still had a brother. He embraced his clan's Curse of Hatred, choosing to die for revenge rather than compromise or forgiveness. Although he briefly tried to put aside his grief and attempt to replace Izuna with the collective Konoha family, he could never shake the feeling that he was betraying Izuna's memory. The increasing isolation of himself and the other Uchiha from the village's politics ultimately convinced him of this, leading him to completely sever any further ties. During his time as a Konoha shinobi, Madara did what he felt was in the village's best interests. Unlike Hashirama's compassionate influence, Madara used a more ruthless and cruel method, much like Sasuke Uchiha did after learning the truth about Itachi.

After he defected from Konoha, his priorities became centred around himself, manipulating countless others in order to satisfy his own goals and putting in place multiple layers of contingencies so that no one could ever diverge from his own intentions. As he values ​​only power and possesses much of it of his own, Madara therefore dislikes wasting it on unworthy causes or against opponents who pose no challenge, claiming disgust when he is forced to do so. Madara loves fighting above all else: the sights, the sounds, and even the taste of his own blood. However, he is very disciplined, calm, and focused in a fight, never allowing his plans or failed attacks to faze him, never letting superior numbers or power intimidate him, and always willing to do whatever it takes to obtain victory, even if he must be "inferior" to perform improper tactics or showboating. This makes him versatile in combat, always willing and able to change tactics and exploit his advantages. He is perfectly aware of his talents and does not feign modesty, stating bluntly when he is stronger than his opponent and belittling him when he continues to challenge him. On the other hand, when he sees that he was wrong or when someone becomes a legitimate challenge to him, he admits it, apologizing for previous comments if necessary, and when he gains the upper hand, he does not like to prolong his opponent's suffering. Madara's only exception is Hashirama. Their years of rivalry have caused Madara to harbor feelings of both respect and resentment towards Hashirama.

He hates hearing Hashirama's name and is at the same time excited at the prospect of fighting him. Madara considers Hashirama the only opponent worthy of his time and the only one who would make him postpone his own plans if it meant prolonging his time fighting Hashirama. In his later years, after he developed his Eye of the Moon Plan, Madara became pessimistic about human nature, believing that the cycle is inevitable. He also came to believe that humanity and the world are incapable of changing from what they were in the past. For the present, the "worthless" reality, he believed, was built on the idea of ​​winning and losing. For this reason, he was deeply committed to his plan, so much so that he would prematurely end a fight he was enjoying or kill any threat, even his own clansmen, to ensure its success. The ultimate failure of his plan left Madara deeply depressed, but led him to see the error of his ways: freeing himself from his Curse of Hatred, regretting the mistakes he had made, and admitting the superiority of Hashirama's methods for peace. He and Hashirama were thus able to reconcile moments before his death. Appearance By the time he reached adulthood, Madara had grown his hair to waist length with shoulder length bangs framing the sides of his face and covering most of his right eye. At times, he wore brown armour with numerous metal plates forming protective wards along his chest, waist, shoulders and thighs.
