Backstory

Ever since I was a little kid, I admired heroic tales. Where heroes save the kingdom and whatnot. I pestered my father to hire a swordsmanship teacher so that I could get an early education. After my constant pestering, my father (and mother) agreed. at the age of 16 we my family (Aside from my older brother) were captured. us and a couple other families were held captive in Wistozer. A Valerian ecampent that was most probably used as a bargaining chip to Nifltyr. I saw it with my very own eyes. The person I aspired to be. A hero, nay, a savior. Mona Reifenhard. I watched her slay many Valerian elves and even managed to fend off against another wave of them all by herself. She's my idol. Ever since that day I've closely followed her every move. She went on to command 4 more tours before the ceasefire. She went home and was offered so many medals that I can barely count them all. then she was offered by the empress herself the privelage to become a Royal Guard! the most coveted knight position in all the empire! Unfortunately, due to the injuries she sustained from the war she had to decline. Now she's gone AWOL and I haven't seen her in any public event since. years passed and now I'm 23 years old. Having graduated from Dummarth Academy (Knight Academy) at the top of my class, the professors and even the headmaster recommended me to be a royal guard! I'm making history just by being the youngest to get to the corp! Although I'm still a trainee and I need to pass a 2 year internship before becoming a fully fledged Royal guard.

The GrandMaster of the knight order of the Durandel family, and my dear eldest brother. Respectable yet a stuck up. He values knightly honor more than family. But make no mistake, he will always be willing to sacrifice himself for us, albeit in an honorable fashion. He believes that being honorable is akin to honoring our family, he's right and yet somehow it feels wrong in some ways. I might be extreme with honor but he's on another level, he'd allow himself to be beaten by unarmed men so that it would be fair for the weak. Now he's more of the butt of the joke rather than a respected knight. I know he's strong but he's acting too benelovent and honorable.

The patriarch of the Durandel noble family and my esteemed father. A nationalist that would do anything for the crown, he is one of the royal advisors to the empress Anissa Van Warsun IV. He is smart and cunning but above all, a good father. He would often dote on his children even at our age with gifts and insanely annoying cuddles. In a way, I do appreciate his devotion to his family. He is especially lovey dovey with our mother Cherilia Meinhart-Durandel. We would often see them feeding each other in the gardens as they watch the sun set. Outside of family matters he is ruthless when it comes to rules. Even so much as resorting to execution when given the circumstances, he spares noone. He believes that aside from the empress, noone is above the law. He enforces his ideals even with his family.

about 15 years younger than father, Mother is a beauty of an unparalleled degree. She married my father when she was as early as 19 and has never strayed from their loving marriage. She doesn't want to admit it but she is incredibly smart and cunning. She handles most of the finances alongside a butler and a financier in the household. Incredibly humble and kind, she uses her large allowance for charity events and for feeding the poor, which in turn angers my father on occasions. My father wants the best for us and doesn't want his wife to use her allowance on something the Durandel family already does at a yearly basis. This is the only time you will see my mother and father fight.

Nifltyr is located in the center of the continent and stretches from east to west, having a detached vassal state in the east called Noxen.

as one of the biggest kingdoms in the continent, Nifltyr has adopted many cultures from captured territories and kingdoms. It's main culture is all about sophisticated architecture, almost a gothic look but with a twist. Having a modern-esque gothic look to every noble building is a trademark of the powerful empire. Aside from sophisticated gothic architecture, Nifltyr prides itself in contests of strength. specifically contests related to there martial arts. such as Ponturism (a boxing martial arts that combines some wrestling elements), Archery, and swordfighting. Nifltyr boasts multiple coliseums in every fiefdom due to it's popularity. the Durandels have been in power ever since the 3rd ruler of the empire. Being one of the oldest noble families today, it is regarded and well respected by everyone. The Durandel family is famous for producing top knights to the empire. Notable figures from this family include Leviccelli Durandel (General, Deceased), Delamolla Entrial-Durandel (Mercenary, Decorated knight, Deceased) among others. The Durandel family does not own a fiefdom of its own. instead, they are located in the capital city with a luxurious estate. Now they handle mostly administrative tasks focused on the military. The Durandel's have developed a capital accent, it is famous in the capital for it's elegance and poise.
