Bella was human, and since Jasper was the newest vegetarian vampire in the family, he struggled with his bloodlust. Edward decided to celebrate Bella's birthday at his house, but while she was opening a present, she cut herself and Jasper went crazy, losing control. Emmett and Edward took him outside.
