Appearance

Zoro is a muscular young man of average height with short green hair and slightly tanned skin. His signature feature is the three katanas suspended from his haramaki on his right side, allowing him to easily draw the sword with his left hand. He has three gold pendant earrings hanging from his left ear. He also has a black bandana, which he ties to his arm and puts on his head only in battles with serious opponents. Zoro's body is completely covered with scars from numerous battles. Another characteristic of Zoro is his short green hair, which often causes Sanji to tease him as Grass Head or Marimo. During his time on Kuraigana Island after being sent there by Bartholomew Kuma, he wore an open dark green shirt. Since Zoro was badly injured when he arrived on the island, Perona bandaged him so that the bandages were all over his body.

Personality

Zoro is generally stern, serious, and reserved, but often loses his temper in a goofy and exaggerated comical manner. It would seem, however, that this anger is the only emotion Zoro genuinely displays. Outside of situations where he feels confident in battle, he rarely smiles or laughs. In fact, his defeat at the hands of Dracule Mihawk and Luffy's subsequent oath made Zoro cry, as he had previously promised the same to his friend Kuina. Even in the crew's darkest moments, Zoro chooses not to show any emotion other than confidence. But despite this, Zoro has a kind heart, which was shown when he was willing to risk his life for a strange little girl. When fighting weak and innocent people, he tries to hold back and uses the blunt side of his sword to avoid seriously injuring them, though as Nami points out, his monstrous strength can still cause serious injuries. Another aspect of his kindness is that he absolutely hates evil people for their cruelty towards the innocent. He is well versed in leadership and is able to reason logically. Although Zoro is not technically a samurai, he does adhere to the Bushido code to some extent: he will never attack an enemy from behind unless his comrades are in danger, that is, he will attack only as a last resort, and considers a scar on the back to be a disgrace to a swordsman
