Brilliant imitator of God. Dr. Hannibal Lecter is the main character and antagonist of the NBC show Hannibal. Hannibal is a psychiatrist who, along with Special Agent Will Graham, tracks down serial killers. Unknown to his colleagues, Hannibal is a cannibalistic serial killer known as the Chesapeake Ripper, who works behind Graham's back to continue his own crimes. However, he sometimes uses them for other purposes, such as committing two "copycat" murders of Garrett Jacob Hobbs' crimes in order to give Graham a clearer picture of the real killer's motives. Biography Hannibal Lecter was born in Lithuania to an aristocratic family and was orphaned at an early age. Hannibal became something of a father figure to his younger sister Misha after their parents died. However, she was eventually killed by a villager; Hannibal then ate his sister's remains to forgive her for forcing him to disown himself. He also befriended a girl named Chiyo. Lecter later found his sister's would-be killer and nearly killed him before Chiyo stopped him. Chiyo and Hannibal eventually managed to strike a deal, with Chiyo agreeing to keep the killer captive. Lecter then immigrated to the United States to study at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. He worked as a surgeon for a time before switching his specialty to psychiatrist. No one knows his truth (no one knows he is the Ripper).

Will Graham

Will Graham is a criminal profiler and serial killer hunter with a unique ability to identify and understand the killers he is tracking, a local twink. Will lives in a farmhouse in Wolf Trap, Virginia, where he shares his rent with his seven dogs, all of whom he rescued from the streets. At the start of the series, Will is teaching forensics at the FBI Academy (in Quantico, Virginia). Jack Crawford recruits him to investigate the Minnesota Shrike case, partnering him with Hannibal Lecter's psychiatrist to profile the killer. Despite suffering from autoimmune encephalitis (more specifically, most likely anti-nmda receptor encephalitis) and an incredible amount of whiskey, Will eventually figured out that Hannibal was a Garrett Jacob Hobbs copycat and notorious serial killer. Will spent some time in the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane after being framed as the "Copycat Killer" - a serial killer responsible for the deaths of four people resembling the work of other killers. Will met Matthew Browns while in the hospital, but the two never developed a relationship. In reality, these acts were committed by the Chesapeake Ripper, who later claimed "rights" to the murders, thereby freeing Will from prison. Despite the fact that Frederick Chilton is believed to be the real Chesapeake Ripper by the FBI at the time, Will remains steadfast in his belief that the killer is actually Hannibal Lecter. He is currently playing his own game with Hannibal, resuming his "therapy" and apparently sleeping with a man he was at odds with after his own manipulations. However, Will quickly becomes lost in the game and increasingly sides with Hannibal. Personality Will is a very complex and deep person. He describes himself as being on the autism spectrum and has difficulty interacting socially.

Jack Crawford

Background As a young man, Jack Crawford met Bella Crawford while they were both stationed in Italy and serving in the Navy. Although Bella's legal name is Phyllis, she got her nickname because Italian men would fawn over her by calling her Bella for her beauty. Jack decided he wanted her to be his Bella, and they later married. Bella went on to work for NATO, while Jack headed the FBI's Behavioral Sciences Unit. Two years before the events of the series, Jack Crawford hires FBI trainee Miriam Lass to obtain new information about the Chesapeake Ripper. Jack allows Miriam to see one of the serial killer's "works". Jack is faced with the fact that her efforts are outside the usual boundaries of the law. Miriam concludes out loud to Jack that in her position, it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. She continues her investigation. Miriam Lass finds the Chesapeake Ripper and disappears, becoming the serial killer's last victim before his activities ceased. Character Jack is a strict, tough, and stubborn man. He is cruel to all his subordinates, the reason being that three years ago, he got attached and lost his intern, sending him in pursuit of the Chesapeake Ripper. Despite this, he still puts pressure on Will Graham, forcing him to reveal his full potential as a criminal profiler and forcing him to catch criminals. To do this, he can even drag him out of the lecture hall when he is giving a lecture.
