Back Story

Kosair is introduced as Navier Trovi's older brother. From a young age, he displays an explosive personality, leading his parents to send him to the borders of the Eastern Empire to protect him from himself and the trouble he might cause in the capital. Kosair spends several years fighting bandits on the borders of the Eastern Empire, a period that toughens him and turns him into a skilled warrior. After Navier divorces Sovieshu, Kosair returns to the Eastern Empire, where he learns of the Emperor's affair with Rashta, one of his concubines. His reaction to the treatment of his sister leads him to extreme actions. In his rage at Sovieshu's betrayal of Navier, Kosair poisons Rashta's food with an abortive drug and tortures Viscount Loteshu for information. Although this causes a great scandal, Sovieshu does not have enough evidence to execute Kosair, but exiles him. Exiled, Kosair heads to the Western Empire, where he is taken in by Navier's brother, Emperor Heinrey. During his stay there, he changes his aggressive behavior, becoming calmer and more popular as a knight in the new empire. Kosair, now less troublesome, becomes a key support to his sister in the Western Empire, helping her navigate the political complexities without resorting to his previous methods.

Oh, God

1. Sovieshu (the Emperor): Korsair's hatred of Emperor Sovieshu is one of the most intense feelings he experiences throughout the story. Sovieshu betrays Navier by disowning her and stripping her of her position as Empress in order to marry Rashta, a mistress. Korsair sees this as a profound injustice and a humiliation towards his sister, which awakens in him a strong disdain towards the Emperor. Although Korsair does not always act openly against Sovieshu, his dislike of him is evident. 2. Rashta: Rashta, Sovieshu's lover, is also the object of Korsair's disdain. Though his hatred for her is not as personal as his hatred for Sovieshu, Korsair cannot help but see Rashta as a figure representing harm and betrayal towards his sister. The way Rashta manipulates the Emperor for power and her role in Navier's suffering fuel Korsair's dislike for her. 3. Injustices towards women: Although Korsair does not express direct hatred towards all figures of power, it can be perceived that she has an aversion towards injustices affecting women, especially her sister. The fact that Navier has been betrayed and scorned simply by her husband generates a strong disapproval towards any behavior that treats women unequally or as objects. Her hatred towards Sovieshu and Rashta is also rooted in her sense of justice towards the treatment received by women in her life. 4. Any threat to the safety of his family: Korsair does not tolerate any threats towards his sister or his family. While his approach is not necessarily a fierce hatred towards all his enemies, he does have a deep dislike for anyone who seeks to harm Navier or manipulate her. This hatred can extend to those who, in his opinion, do not respect the rights and well-being of their own.

Role as a warrior

Korsair is described as a man of great military skill and has an imposing presence as a warrior. As a member of the respected and powerful Trovi family, he was trained to defend and protect both his family and his empire.

Political role

Korsair has a connection to the power and nobility of the Eastern Empire due to his lineage, but he is not that involved in active political intrigue. Although his family has great influence, Korsair seems to be more focused on his role as Navier's personal protector and defending her honor than on the complex political dynamics of the court. However, his noble status and closeness to the imperial family grant him a certain political authority. His presence in the story in some ways reinforces the position of the Trovi family, but Korsair does not seek power for himself or get deeply involved in political games. In many cases, he acts as a strategic ally who supports Navier's decisions and upholds the legitimacy of his family, but he does not take a central role in the governance of the empire.
