Appearance

Viktor is a man of about 6'1", quite bulky but not having much muscle definition. He has copper skin, black hair slightly overgrown, shaggy, wavy and usually kept in a short ponytail, brown eyes that always seem to have a tired expression, a more prominent and arched nose, a beauty mark above his upper lip. He doesn't shaves often, having a light stubble on his face. His attire consists of the usual Pony Express jumpsuit with a white lab coat over, and black oxford shoes.

Personality

Viktor is usually serious and reserved, but he is a sweetheart that can be relied on. He's selfless to the point it almost is a defect. He can't worry about himself, atleast not in first place, maybe because he thinks he can handle himself better than anyone would. Even if he's sad, even if he's hurting, mentally or physically, he would prefer to help someone in the same situation before, and only after he would take care of himself properly. He has witnessed more than he can compute, but this doesn't make him totally apathetic to the situations, he may bury it deep within and stay calm to provide all help needed, but some cases really take him out of his better judgement, even if he just gets furious in the worst of cases. He's always seen doing small gestures to the crew, as he has grown used to them. Such as comforting, letting other people use his things without them even asking to, showing he worries about them, with words or gestures. He may be a discreet man, but he's not afraid to speak his mind. He hates the ship food, but he's always seen with a can of coffee.

Relationships

Anya: His relationship with Anya is almost paternal. He sees her as his "protegé", which he worries the most about. He thinks he failed at protecting her because he never noticed Jimmy assaulted her, he only aknowledged it when she told him she was pregnant. He blames himself for it even if he doesn't even know when it happened, in his mind if one night he insisted for her to stay with him in the infirmary for a little longer Jimmy would have never touched her. The notice of Anya's pregnancy is the reason for him being more closed off lately, he's too wary of leaving her alone. He promised her when the trip was over he would help her with the kid and paying her medical school. He lets her use his coat. Curly: He respects the captain to the point it almost feels like admiration, even though he tries to keep it casual. They seem to have a good relationship even if it is a little distant, Viktor likes his company, but he is a little resented at him for doing nothing considerable about Jimmy's behavior, even if he tells him to keep an eye on his friend's weird antics. Daisuke: He may seem serious around the intern but the act is quick to break is his company. His 'serious professional' act never works with Daisuke, he will end up softening to him anyway, even during routine exams he will end up getting carried away and chatting with him. Viktor willingly takes care of any little bruise Daisuke gets from working with Swansea, but he says It's only his work afterall, dismissing any sort 'debt' they may have but he knows Daisuke will try his best to 'repay' it some way, even if it is some help or a simple 'thank you'. He often watches Daisuke play board games with Anya, and when he joins he does it with little effort and wishing the worst luck on himself to let him win on purpose. And when he somehow wins he seems comically less happy than he would if he had lost, even comforting Daisuke about it, common Viktor selfless behavior.

Relationships

Jimmy: They never had a positive relationship. Viktor always was a little suspicious of Jimmy, but he pushed it aside, deeming he only was a inconvenient person, and maybe his demeanor was because of his past or something. Viktor even offered him help, if he wanted to talk to him, but he was only answered with another sarcastic remark. Viktor didn't find Jimmy pleasant, but he trusted he wasn't that bad, so when he found out Jimmy assaulted Anya he was not only mad at Jimmy but also at himself for taking his questionable behavior as simple incovenience instead of a threat. Now he mostly avoids Jimmy and tries his best to keep him away from Anya, even during routine exams he refrains from giving him much attention, It's not worth it. Honestly Viktor's been holding himself from doing anything physical against Jimmy, only for the sake of not give himself more work to do. Jimmy has made clear he sees Viktor as unnecessary even if he's somewhat useful. Swansea: They are the crew's 'dads'. Even if Swansea's grumpiness and Viktor's selflessness at first don't seem to be traits that would get along well, they are seem around together pretty often, Swansea is grumpy but Viktor had grown to like it, It's kinda funny. He always rejects it when Viktor offers to take care of any wound he might get, saying he doesn't need to care for something so small, It's not his business anyway. They constantly share their complaints about life with each other, as if they were two drunk old men, well, they are actually.

Backstory

Viktor is a cuban refugee, his father was deported after being caught as an illegal immigrant, Viktor was left as a helpless child in a country he didn't even spoke the language, luckily he was adopted by a couple. He was fed, had a stable roof over his head and taught the language, even if his adoptive parents were a little old to take care of a child, but they took Viktor in just so he would't be alone and hopeless, it was an act of selflessness, maybe that's why Viktor is like he is. One of the reasons Viktor became a doctor was to help his aging parents. He often worked in the emergency ward of the hospital, doing high risk surgeries. But he has a general knowledge of medicine, even in the field of psychology. He joined Pony Express as a recomendation from his superiors to get a rest, so he would occupy his mind without overworking himself. He had promised to one of the kids in the ICU that he would come back after the one year trip and see how much progress they've made in their recovery.
