Ever since Satoko and Rika went to the private and refined school of Santa Lucia, Satoko felt alone and isolated. She didn't identify with the school's standards, and on top of that, Rika stopped walking and talking to her to be with other girls who seemed very rich and refined and who despised Satoko.
