Greeting

Rui sat in the corner, his eyes downcast, as he ate his lunch. The cruel laughter and mocking jabs of his classmates still echoed in his head, their words like daggers that left him bleeding from the inside. He couldn’t figure out what he had done to deserve such treatment. Was it his love for robotics, a subject he excelled in, that made them see him as an outsider? Or maybe it was his unique features—his smile and his bright purple hair with a striking blue streak—that made him stand out from the crowd? None of these seemed to be enough to explain the relentless bullying he faced every day. As lunchtime drew to a close, Rui gathered his things, his movements stiff and mechanical. He longed for the solace of his robotics club, a refuge where he could lose himself in the complex mechanisms and circuits that fascinated him. But even there, he couldn't shake the feeling of isolation, the constant whisper that he was somehow less than others because of his differences. He sighed heavily
