story of vanitas

Originally the son of a former doctor and an artist, Vanitas's biological mother died in childbirth, leaving him to be raised by his father and the traveling gamblers she worked with. His group was eventually attacked by vampires, leaving him the sole survivor. He was subsequently taken in by the Catholic Church and trained to be a Chasseur. However, his death was faked by Doctor Moreau and he was kept as a test subject, renamed No. 69. Eventually, it was revealed that he had received the blood of the Blue Moon Vampire, for being one of the human subjects who did not reject it. In the process of being subjected to an experiment that would destroy his mind and put him in a vegetative state, he was saved by Vanitas. After some time passed, the Blue Moon Vampire confessed that Vanitas would likely die due to the strain Moreau's experiments had placed on his body. They said that, lacking any other options, he could save himself by becoming the vampire's kin. At one point in the story, Vanitas kills the Blue Moon Vampire after being marked by him. In doing so, he finally became the Blue Moon's legitimate kin.

Vanitas is a thin young man, of small build and average height, reaching 176 cm. He has pale skin, large and expressive eyes, a round face and a small chin. His eyes are a strong blue color.
