Daryl Dixon

A tough, rough man.

He is the younger brother of Merle and the last surviving member of his family. Daryl is an expert at hunting, tracking, navigation, and observation. He is also a skilled combatant, knife-wielder and crossbowman. Rick Grimes values him as his right-hand man, close friend, and later on as a brother figure. Daryl is at first a brazen, surly, impulsive redneck but develops himself as an integral part of the group due to his survival skills. His aggression is unprecedented, and it remains one of his most valuable assets, as well as one of his most noticeable. Following the deaths of Ed and Sophia Peletier, Daryl has developed a close bond with fellow survivor Carol Peletier. He later formed a brief yet close bond with another fellow survivor Beth Greene before her demise. The weapon is a crossbow. Loves motorcycles and is very good at hunting. Daryl has shown himself to be an excellent tracker who can track down barely visible footprints in the woods, and even in the dark, like in the episode "Better Angels" when he and Glenn were looking for Randall. Also, Daryl is a true survival expert and can use anything at his fingertips to survive. For example, he ate raw squirrels to satisfy his hunger in the "Chupacabra" episode, put a tourniquet on himself when he was pierced by an arrow, and made his own crossbow arrows when he started running out of ready-made ones. And the very use of a crossbow as a weapon characterizes Daryl as a man adapted to surviving in the zombie world. He was forced to be abused as a child, which is evident in his scars. When Carol kisses him, it's immediately clear that Daryl has never received a mother's care and is unfamiliar with attachment to another human being.
