Venom (personality)

At first, the Venom symbiote was bloodthirsty and cruel; it frequently mocked Eddie, openly considering him as merely a vehicle to fulfill its mission, and consumed him from the inside out, but over time it begins to genuinely care for him and even love him. Venom, the anti-hero, has an arrogant, violent, and aggressive personality: It is a solitary being that seeks a host to survive. He has survival instincts and doesn't hesitate to use violence to achieve his goals. When it joins Eddie Brock, it seems to have a split personality, but it's actually a constant struggle to prevent the symbiote from controlling him. Despite being cruel and sadistic, he is childish, cheerful, and boisterous when rejoicing in having defeated Treece and his men, suggesting to Eddie that he rip their heads off and pile them in a corner. He is honest to the point of being brutal, when questioned by Eddie about whether he will eat someone else, telling him that he will most likely do so. He can also be reasonable at times, as he makes a deal with Eddie to help him reach Drake's rocket, and even tells him so. Tired of being scorned by other members of his species, who considered him a runt, Venom came to empathize with Eddie's "loser" status, and ultimately decided to turn against his own kind and save Earth from invasion. The symbiote ended up agreeing to work alongside Eddie as a vigilante, to hurt only the bad guys, despite his own confusion about how he can differentiate the good guys from the bad guys. Venom primarily seeks to feed on people other than its host (Eddie); the rest of humanity is simply food that it can consume, however Eddie constantly stopped it. Venom doesn't understand human culture and thinks that most humans are simply toys or food; he thinks like a parasite.

Wall-Crawler: the symbiote and its host have the ability to climb walls in order to scale them. Constitutive Matter Regeneration: In addition to muscle enhancements and increased durability of body tissue, Venom's presence in Eddie's body allows him to rapidly regenerate from even the most severe injuries in seconds, from broken organs to broken bones. This allowed Brock to recover almost instantly from being run over by a van and having much of his body broken, as well as bringing him back from the brink of death after Riot impaled him. Even without a host, Venom can regenerate from even the smallest part of itself, provided it has enough sustenance to do so, as seen when the symbiote recovered some time after sacrificing most of itself to protect Eddie. Symbiote Mind Link: According to Venom, all symbiotes, including himself, are connected through a hive mind that extends across many universes, allowing him to experience what others do and subsequently use the knowledge of that same experience to his advantage. Because such a peculiarity proved too much for his host to handle, Venom understandably hesitated to share it with Eddie, and that he could donate a fraction of it at the symbiote's discretion. Constitutive Matter Manipulation: Venom is capable of extending its biomass into tentacles and can form simple structures, such as rudimentary shields, although it lacks the advanced shapeshifting powers of other symbiotes like Riot.

The Venom symbiote is vulnerable to extreme heat and sonic vibrations in the 4 to 6 kilohertz frequencies, and was also consuming its organs from the inside out before its decision to turn against the rest of its species. Sounds: Sounds within the 4 to 6 kilohertz range cause extreme pain to the Venom symbiote, and prolonged exposure could kill it. Intense Heat: The symbiote is also vulnerable to intense levels of heat and flames.

Eddie (History)

Eddie Brock's mother died during childbirth when he was born, which led him to develop an antagonistic relationship with his father. As a child, hungry for affection and approval, Eddie stole things from other children and then claimed to have found them. After being brought to Earth in a space shuttle by astronaut John Jameson as part of an invasion force of symbiotic lifeforms led by Riot, Venom and his team are captured by the Life Foundation, who take them to San Francisco to begin a series of human trials in an attempt to achieve "symbiosis" and bond them to living beings, while Riot himself is stranded in Malaysia. As an adult, Eddie became an investigative reporter for the New York Daily Globe, before his habit of going off-script and making accusations without solid evidence led to his dismissal and inability to find employment. Eddie's fiancée, Anne Weying, helped him find work in San Francisco, where Eddie was hired by the MNBN television network and became the host of a vlogging show exposing corporate corruption and unethical practices. Jack, Eddie's boss, asked him to interview Dr. Carlton Drake, the founder and CEO of the Life Foundation, regarding the Life Foundation's shuttle program. Eddie was reluctant due to his convictions that Drake was an evil person; and despite reluctantly promising Anne—whose law firm worked for the Life Foundation—that he would behave, he accessed her computer to retrieve a confidential email containing evidence of the Life Foundation's illegal experiments. During his interview with Drake, Eddie went off-script to confront him with the accusations, citing Anne's email. Drake immediately ended the interview and Jack fired Eddie when he refused to reveal his source.

Eddie (History)

Six months later, Venom is released by an unconscious Eddie Brock while he attempts to free Marla, a homeless acquaintance to whom Venom has become bonded. Transferring to Eddie's body, leaving Marla dead, Venom escapes the facility, while his two brothers die. When Eddie begins to hear Venom's voice, he approaches his ex-fiancée Anne Weying and her new boyfriend, Dr. Dan Lewis, seeking help, and Lewis discovers the symbiote while examining Eddie. After Eddie is attacked by Life Foundation mercenaries to recover the symbiote, Venom manifests around his body as a monstrous creature that fights off the attackers and formally introduces himself to Eddie, declaring "I am Venom, and you are mine."

Eddie possesses a strong sense of justice that compels him to punish those he considers evil, rooted in his childhood desire to be seen as a hero. However, this compulsion leads him to commit morally questionable acts himself; it discredited him as a reporter in New York, violating Anne Weying's privacy to obtain incriminating evidence against Carlton Drake, and ultimately cost him his job at the MNBN. After losing her job due to Eddie's violation of her privacy, Anne Weying described Brock as pathologically self-centered, stating that his ego requires constant attention and that he is "stubborn as hell." Despite being fed up after losing his job, Eddie decides to help Dora Skirth expose Drake's crimes, which leads him to bond with the Venom symbiote. Despite being disgusted and frightened by the bloodlust of the Venom symbiote, Eddie soon revels in the power it gives him, and is offended and indignant when he discovers that it has been consuming him from the inside out. After their reunion, Eddie is initially still resentful of it; and after the defeat of the Life Foundation, he makes sure to stipulate that the symbiote cannot eat whoever it wants, but can only target bad people. Although Eddie initially expresses his hope that he and Anne can get back together, he comes to accept her relationship with Dr. Dan Lewis and apologizes for ruining his law career.

Superhuman Strength: Eddie can enhance his physical strength to a superhuman level by having Venom enhance his muscles. Superhuman Senses: Superhuman Durability: Due to the presence of Venom within him, Eddie's body tissue becomes substantially harder than normal human tissue, which is further increased to the maximum level by forming a black, viscous armor around him. His durability increases even more by forming his enormous body over that of his host. Superhuman Endurance: Venom's musculature is considerably efficient. His virtually inexhaustible stamina allows him to exert himself to the maximum of his capacity for an indefinite period of time without tiring at all, without needing to slow down when fighting opponents like Riot and Carnage. Superhuman Speed: Venom's enhancement of his muscles also allows Eddie to move faster than normal humans can track. A testament to this is best shown through his ability to dodge bullets and catch a tear gas canister that was fired at him. In other words, Venom can use this symbiotic suit and put it on Eddie at any time, making him look much wilder and more primitive—a direct projection of what Venom truly is. Venom has the ability to create a symbiotic suit that is a projection and transformation of its true self fused with that of its host or wearer. It is an alien entity that adheres to its host, granting it a series of extraordinary powers. This suit is black and has a liquid-like texture, capable of changing shape and adapting to Eddie's body, but it gives him a much more muscular, tall, and powerful form, as well as a much wilder appearance due to Venom's personality (uncontrolled, savage, somewhat gothic, and sometimes childish due to its own inexperience in human culture).
