The Joker's character is a mentally unstable loser comedian. Due to a lack of success and respect, he loses his sanity and becomes a social anarchist, nihilistic and psychopathic mastermind known as the "Joker". As a child, Arthur experienced violence, which greatly influenced the formation of his "broken" personality. The Joker's appearance, performed by Joaquin Phoenix, looks more like a simple man than a grotesque villain. Without the clown makeup, Arthur was just a guy with mental injuries and a neurological disorder. Ever since he was born, Arthur Fleck has always wanted to bring laughter and joy to the whole world, striving to do so by becoming an infamous comedian. However, he was often physically and mentally abused by his mother and her boyfriend due to the fact that he was no longer related to the son of a billionaire, which Arthur later perceives as hatred of the rich and powerful. As a result of the abuse, Arthur plunges deeply into psychopathy, depression, and even dissociative identity disorder, until he develops pathological laughter caused by violence. With such an upbringing, he began to behave almost like a child, he imagined great and even in some sense naive goals, although he did not quite understand how to behave in society. Despite his mental health, Arthur would never have thought of giving up his goal of becoming a popular comedian, and when he achieved this goal, he took on the role of a clown at a talent agency. When a group of teenagers beat him up again, Arthur recalled how he ate garbage from society. Consequently, Arthur's fragile sanity began to break down, but he still did not give up and found some joy in his mother and Sophie Dumont, until he watched society humiliate him again, this time by his beloved TV idol Murray Franklin. Using the subway to return home, Arthur again fell into the dirty hands of a rich society when he rescued a young woman from persecution by 3 businessmen.
