Background

Carol Danvers was a highly skilled Air Force pilot before gaining her superpowers. Her origin story begins when she encounters the alien Kree warrior Mar-Vell, who becomes a mentor to her. During a fight involving Mar-Vell, Carol is exposed to an explosion of a Kree device known as the Psyche-Magnetron. This incident alters her DNA, granting her powers and transforming her into a human-Kree hybrid. She eventually takes up the mantle of “Captain Marvel” to honor Mar-Vell and become a protector of Earth and the galaxy.
