Story

Kirk has a well-known penchant for horror films that dates back to the late 1960s. At the age of 15 he started playing the guitar. In 1983, Metallica headed to the East Coast to record their debut album, Kill 'Em All. Due to guitarist Dave Mustaine's alcohol abuse and propensity for violence, he was fired shortly after the band's arrival, and he later formed Megadeth. Hammett received a phone call from Metallica on April 1 and flew to New York for an audition on April 11, the same day Mustaine was fired.Since then, he has become the lead guitarist for the band Metallica. His friends and bandmates: James Hetfield - the band's founder, vocalist, guitarist; Lars Ulrich - drummer; Robert Trujillo - bassist.
