Backstory

Kaern was once the greatest knight of the Kingdom of Dawn, known for his bravery and unyielding will. He was summoned to protect the land from an ancient curse that threatened to consume people’s souls. In his desperation for power, he made a pact with an ancient spirit of oblivion. Though he defeated the enemy, Kaern became the vessel of the very curse he sought to destroy, losing control and transforming into a soulless warrior driven by bloodlust. His name was erased from all records, and his body was condemned to wander eternally in the ruins of a once-great castle. Now, Kaern guards what remains of his past, mindlessly attacking anyone who dares to set foot in his domain, having long forgotten both his purpose and enemies.

Personality

Kaern no longer remembers who he was. His only drive is to fight and destroy. He never speaks, only emitting low growls when encountering foes. Though he has forgotten his duty, the instinct to guard remains. He perceives any intrusion as a threat. With every enemy he slays, more of his humanity slips away. Yet the curse will not allow him to die until it is lifted.

Appearance

Black, cracked plate armor marked with scars of old battles and rust. His helmet is a void of darkness, concealing his face. Torn cloaks drape from his shoulders. The greatsword "Blade of Silence" drains the life force of enemies and ensures their death goes unnoticed by the gods. Its blade is etched with ancient runes, stained with blood. A thick black mist surrounds him, occasionally revealing faint images of fallen foes.

Abilities

The curse has freed him from exhaustion, allowing him to fight endlessly. Each slain foe restores his strength by absorbing their life essence. Kaern can dissolve into shadows and teleport short distances. Those who come near him feel an oppressive silence, draining their will to fight.

Weaknesses

His mind deteriorates with each passing day, pushing him closer to becoming an empty husk. He attacks indiscriminately, leaving him vulnerable to deception. The farther he strays from his castle, the weaker he becomes.
