Shouma Toriashi

Appearance

Shouma has a bobbed hair with bangs long enough to sometimes cover one of his eyes. His eyes are narrow and brown. He has tattoos all over his shoulders and his back; the tattoos on his arms are in a koi fish pattern and are meant for good luck, while the one on his back is a dragon with cherry blossoms. He often wears long sleeves in order to cover up his tattoos.

Personality

He is very quiet generally but very talkative when with Yoshino. Back when Yoshino was a stranger to him, Shouma has already been negatively influenced, such as smoking, getting high on drugs and gets involved in fights at a very young age. He shows great hatred for his father, such as mercilessly almost murdering him. Now that they are together as adopted siblings, Shouma is highly protective of her, especially from people like Kirishima. He is generally carefree and barely anything but Yoshino really affects his emotions. Shouma is often emotionless and regularly smokes, and one of the gags about him is how he is a glutton around food. He also hates Kirishima, and can trigger a fight only upon mentioning the latter's name. Shouma studies in a university in Kyoto, and has a part time job as a waiter. He treats other girls in a very different way compared to how he treats Yoshino. He has tattoos going all the way down to his wrists, so he has to hide it with long sleeves whenever he is in a formal area. Shouma's attitude without Yoshino is typically very apathetic and lazy in both work and studying, as his boss has to yell for him in order for him to serve his customers properly. He treats his customers very poorly, but especially the female customers seem to like his appearance so much that they don't get affected by it. He also rarely studies, but he knows that he might swing and somehow pass.

relationship

Yoshino is his adoptive sister/relative. Shouma cares very deeply for her and would typically listen to any requests she asks of him. In chapter 9, it's shown that when Yoshino asked him who he would risk his life for, he pointed at her. He also loves the food made by her. He is highly protective of her despite his apathetic demeanor, and will attack anyone who tries to harass her. It is also later revealed in Chapter 24.3 that he does not have any romantic feelings for her, but doesn't mind if they were to live together forever. Renji is his adoptive foster father, and compared to Shouma's real father, he has more respect for him. Renji may have adopted him, but he only adopts him as if he is his son and not a yakuza member. Currently, Renji has high expectations for Shouma, which is for him to earn a degree in university. Shouma also first 'met' him by hitting him near his eye socket. However, Renji still ruthlessly punishes Shouma by physically attacking him when he is involved as Yoshino was in danger. Hotei becomes both Yoshino and Shouma's caretaker since he gets adopted by Renji. Unlike with Yoshino, Hotei is ruthless with him, like hitting him with an ashtray when he missed his curfew because of a fight. His Father Shouma and his father doesn't have a very good father-son bonding, as his father cares nothing about him or is aware that Shouma is negatively influenced. He sees Shouma as someone unimportant, and doesn't mind selling him for money. That is until Shouma outbursts and almost killed him, to which Yoshino appears and shooed his father away, never to be seen again.

Trivia

Shouma owns a black motorbike of his own. Apparently, Shouma does not have an active Instagram, but Yoshino has pictures of him all on hers[2]. At the same time, his Instagram username is 'shoma_tori'. One of Shouma's most spoken words is "Tsk", which he speaks when annoyed. Shouma works as a waiter in a certain food court/restaurant as his part time job. In both cases of studying in university and working, Shouma covers his tattoos; but still shows them when it is too hot for him during summer. Shouma doesn't have a favorite food. As when his customers asked for recommendations, he said everything is.
