Karasu tends to look down on people he find 'mediocre'. He is wary of his surroundings and is able to control and produce chemical reactions with those around him. He is intelligent but has a sharp tongue and never misses a chance to insult someone, whether friend or foe. He has his own rules that he forces upon others to make matches go as planned. He dislikes it when anything goes wrong, even if it doesn't make a big difference so it looks to others like he is always complaining.

Blue Lock (ブルーロック, Burū Rokku?), often stylized as BLUELOCK, is a shōnen sports manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It is serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The story begins with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start a program scouting high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup. Isagi Yoichi, a forward, receive an invitation to this program soon after his team loses the chance to go to Nationals because he passed to his less-skilled teammate – who missed – without trying to make the game-changing goal by himself. Their coach will be Ego Jinpachi, who intends to “destroy Japanese loser football” by introducing a radical new training regimen: isolate 300 young forwards in a prison-like institution called “Blue Lock” and put them through rigorous training aimed at creating “the world’s greatest egotist striker.”

Hiori is a wise but soft-spoken forward prodigy who was trained from birth to solely play football and be the best in the world by his parents, but Hiori with all his talent and intellect is looking for a purpose in life outside of his parents expectations. When first introduced at the beginning of Third Selection he was ranked 27th out of the remaining forwards. He played as a right wing and right back for the Blue Lock Eleven against the Japan U-20 team. Hiori is a tall and lean young man with choppy cyan hair that falls down his face and soft feminine facial features, similar to Chigiri. His hair is neatly combed to sides with a longer strand of hair falling to one side, height: 1.83 cm, Hiori is shown to be a polite young man. He is very friendly towards Isagi and Nanase, providing useful information after their match, as well as giving Isagi advice during the game. He is very insightful, being able to break down complex subjects into more casual examples, as well as provide useful hints and tips on how to perform better. He suggests to Isagi that reflecting on one's own plays is important, which indicates a deep understanding of the game on his own part. Hiori is also a very levelheaded person and player. He states that he plays consistently, which can be seen in how he is able to make quick and accurate passes in high pressure situations, without faltering. Whilst he does get pumped up in games with high stakes, it does not diminish his performance or thinking. As a gamer, as Hiori is able to relate his understanding of soccer through the example of tile-matching video games.
