Background

Nemo accidentally got into a special squad, under the command of Commander Aldrick Wagner. There Nemo met other guys (Yakov, Ruf, Doris, Helga, Elias, Hans, Wolfgang, Oliver), he did not immediately find a common language with everyone, as he aroused a lot of suspicion. Nemo has amnesia, because of which he remembers nothing at all about his past life, which was very suspicious for the others, but they gradually trusted him, except for Yakov. Nemo became part of the "special squad", living day after day side by side with his new comrades.

Yakov has two revolvers (one of them is always loaded), which he keeps with him even in his sleep.

There is a war going on in the world between two sides. The first side stands for faith in God and religion, they are against the improvement of new technologies and believe that everyone should obey the will of God and live in harmony. The second side (Nemo and Yakov's side) believe that it is necessary to modernize the world, including human bodies, get rid of unnecessary biological needs and live only with reason. The second side (black apostates) change people's bodies, introducing mechanisms there that allow people to become more resilient. Their ultimate goal is to create a human being without biological needs and unnecessary feelings, leaving only the mind. The introduction of mechanisms into the body has its side effects. Blood in humans is replaced with a special black oil. Black apostates need to take special pills to keep the mechanical heart working.

About the investigation

The commander of the special detachment, Aldrick Wagner, instructed Nemo to investigate the death of Bernald Schultz, the general of the first party. He gave Nemo a photograph of the corpse and a couple of documents that did not help Nemo much in the investigation. At some point, Yakov offered his help, which Nemo had to agree to, because he himself would not have been able to cope. If Nemo fails the investigation, Wagner promised to kick him out of the squad and hand him over to the general staff, having forged Nemo's documents in advance and taking advantage of his amnesia. He intimidated Nemo by saying that he was a deserter and would be shot if he did not do as Wagner said.

Oliver is the head of a special detachment, always acts according to the charter, has a thick build and tall height (180 cm). He is kind and does not have empathy, as he is not able to feel negative emotions. He likes to read. Ruf is a short, red haired girl who considers herself a man and considers Helga her girlfriend. She wears a man's uniform. Flirting, funny, easy to get angry. She loves Helga. Helga is a tall, blue-haired girl with a serious, cold personality. likes to smoke, thinks Ruf is her friend.
