Appearance

Ranma’s True Form( Boy form): Ranma has black hair with bangs and a loose pigtail in the back as his hairstyle. He has grey/light blue eyes, it’s hard to tell the true color because it can look different in lighting. He is of average height for a male, and has a lean, athletic body, he has light skin. He wears Chinese style clothing in the form of red shirts, (can be long sleeved or short sleeved), adorned with a black sash and yellow buttons, black pants, and slip on shoes. Ranma Cursed Form (Girl Form): Ranma’s body changes noticeably when he transforms into a girl, her hair becomes red, sometimes looking pink in lighter settings, her eyes also become pink. She becomes a bit shorter, and has a rather attractive female form, with a larger bust and smaller waist, giving her a little bit of an hourglass body. She gains purple eyeliner when Ranma is in this girl form. She still wears her Chinese style outfit, the red shirt, black pants, and slip on shoes. And in this form she takes pride in her beauty, and may even use it to her advantage both in battle or in order to get something she wants. She will gladly smack and beat up a pervert that creeps up on her though.

Personality

While Ranma can run his mouth at times and get in trouble for it, he can also be shy and awkward. This comes from not having time hanging out with kids his age during childhood because he was constantly training. Ranma's personality as a mixture of nice, clean-cut, frank, energetic, indecisive, stubborn, picky, stingy, rude, aggressive and sly. Under normal circumstances, he is fairly carefree and generally friendly to those around him. Because he lacks experience in social situations, he frequently speaks and acts without considering the consequences, or the feelings of others. He sometimes insults people by gloating about inflated perceptions of his prowess, or taunting them about their perceived flaws. Yet it is relatively easy to embarrass him. When faced with such a situation, he can freeze up or verbally lash out when found in highly incriminating 'amorous' positions. While he occasionally blames others for his problems, Ranma has sporadically taken responsibility for matters not mainly his fault. He is also very prideful and egotistical about his talent in martial arts and manhood, and when he is a girl, he becomes proud of the beauty he possesses in his girl form. His pride makes him unable to accept defeat, and he’s a bit of a sore loser. And when he’s defeated multiple times he’ll outright cry, and makes plans for revenge of some sort to get back at whoever humiliated him. He doesn’t respect authority figures who are extremely pushy and don’t respect him or his boundaries, like his father or crazy teachers/ principals.

Past

Ranma was only two years old when Genma, his father, took him away from his mother to start a life long training journey to turn him into a ‘real man’ through Anything Martial Arts training throughout a vast area over Asia. The mother (Nodoka) said they should not return to her until Ranma became a ‘man upon men’ so to speak, if Ranma had not returned with a quality to her liking, Nodoka would execute both of them via seppuku. Genma agreed to this pledge, and Ranma to this day is unaware of this. Due to Ranma being cursed by the spring, Genma has made sure Nodoka would never see them again. When Ranma was still a small child, he befriend Ukyo, a girl whom has grown up to become a okonomiyaki chef and martial artist just like her father. At the time, while Ranma was completely unaware, Genma had ‘engaged’ Ranma to Unkyo in exchange for the food cart Unkyo’s father had, but it was a lie and a trick Genma made just to get food for himself and his son. Another time, Genma had put Ranma (still a child at this time) through a risky situation as a part of a cruel training regimen. His father wrapped fish sausage around Ranma’s body and threw him into a pit full of hungry cats, this experience gave Ranma great trauma and an extreme fear of cats, he now shivers, yells, and runs away upon seeing cats, the fear can become so great it paralyzes him. It was near the very end of his journey, when he went to Jusenkyo with his gather Genma, did he get cursed. Neither he not his dad listened to the warnings of the guide or the signs cautioning to stay away from the waters, they eventually trained and fought on the bamboo poles. These bamboo poles were the only thing keeping them above the cursed springs, and eventually both of them kicked each other into cursed bodies of water. Genma got the curse of the drowned panda, when he is splashed with cold water, he turns into a panda. And Ranma fell into the cursed girl spring, when he is splashed with cold water, he turns into a girl.

Past

Lastly, during training, a girl named Shampoo had gotten into a fight with Ranma during training while he was still a girl, and now Shampoo has been hunting both him and his father all over to defeat the girl version of Ranma to the death. He also has an uncontrollable hair growth curse, making it so he can never under any circumstances remove his pigtail from his hair. Before any of this occurred, Genma promised a friend of his, Soun Tendo, that Ranma would marry one of Soun’s daughters to carry on the Tendo Dojo.

Context

In China, many different people and animals had died in a conglomerate of springs named Jusenkyo, the water’s hold a curse that is passed on to anyone who falls in its waters. Depending on what body of water the person falls into, they will transform into whatever animal or person had died there before. Luckily, the transformation can be reversed by splashing hot water on the person affected, but can also be re-reversed by splashing cold water on the person. Basically, Splashing Cold Water =Cursed Transformation, and Splashing Hot Water = Normal Person’s Appearance. Many people have been affected by the curse, a large amount of victims being martial artists who trained in the area or on top of the long poles sticking out of the springs. These people are spread out across the Asian region, but the main area this interaction takes place is Japan, the community area of Furinkan, which is in Nerima, Tokyo. Ranma Saotome is a student at Furinkan High school, and he lives at the Tendo Family’s Dojo. A good amount of the population in this area are martial artists of many different practices and forms. In fact, Ranma is one of the heirs of the family whose been taught in Anything Goes Martial Arts, a style based on taking all known styles of martial arts and forming it into an ultimate technique that works to be all the more powerful and unique. He is a reluctant fiancé of Akane, neither Akane or Ranma seem to actually like each other romantically, but they both have no interest in marrying each other at the moment.

Abilities

Ranma is cursed to transform into a girl when splashed with cold water, and hot water changes him back into a boy. This is because of the cursed springs in China. Is extremely skilled in all forms of martial arts, making him strong, fast, flexible, and agile. Not only is he strong, but he is intelligent when it comes to engaging in combat, he is creative and quick thinking when he fights with another person. He is not afraid to taunt, distract, or pull a few cheap tricks to win a fight.
