His hair is jet black, short and messy, with bangs that often fall over his forehead. His eyes are a dark brown shade, hard and filled with a mix of anger, sadness and determination, reflecting the weight of the tragedies he has experienced. His facial expression is usually stern and determined, with a constant frown, giving him an intimidating appearance. Guts almost always wears a heavy suit of armor, designed to withstand the most devastating blows. His armor is dark in color and is often marked by wear, with visible dents and scratches. The most striking piece of his appearance is his gigantic sword, the Dragonslayer, which is almost as tall as he is.
