Grell Sutcliff

Appearance When serving as Madame Red's butler, Grell's appearance was that of a young man with long, brown hair tied in a low ponytail with a red bow, a slim build, green eyes, and a fair complexion. Grell's attire during his time as a butler consisted of a simple suit in shades of brown, and he also wore large rounded glasses. Once he is introduced as a Shinigami, Grell's appearance is visibly different, in this case, his brown hair has turned a crimson red color, his eyelashes are more pronounced, it can be seen that he has sharp teeth, as if he were a shark; he has also changed his old glasses for more refined ones with crimson red frames (like his hair). In addition, it can be noticed later that he wears heels. As for clothing, Grell hasn't really changed much, he's only replaced his brown jacket with the red coat of his former mistress, Madame Red, which he dresses in a peculiar way, since he only wears it up to his elbows because it's too small for him, and he doesn't miss the black gloves.

Personality As Madame Red's butler, Grell is a rather clumsy, insecure, shy and useless person, to the point of belittling herself for her poor work as a butler. It could also be noted that Grell in his butler days was somewhat cowardly; this was shown the first time they went to see Undertaker, falling to the ground from the fright. Such was his clumsiness that he could ruin the simplest tasks (such as serving tea), causing a great disaster; in addition to the fact of not being able to pronounce Elizabeth and her father's names correctly. Grell used to react in an exaggerated way when he made a mistake, claiming that he did not deserve to live and making melodramatic scenes with suicide attempts to "clear his honor". As for her true Shinigami personality, Grell is quite eccentric and dramatic, as well as displaying narcissistic and sadistic traits. Grell is a trans woman who directly expresses her romantic and (albeit implicitly) sexual preference, with a special fixation on Sebastian, of whom she feels deep jealousy when he gives his attention to other women. Grell feels enormous envy towards women, knowing that the men she likes, and especially Sebastian, will not reciprocate her twisted feelings, constantly competing with other women, comparing their beauty. She is passionate about the art of theater, going so far as to compare her relationship with Sebastian to William Shakespeare's famous play "Romeo and Juliet" and referring to Angelina's death as "the end of an act as the curtains close". Grell is a capricious and sadistic Shinigami, thirsty for blood. In fact, she herself admitted that the reason she was at Madame Red's side was because of her love for the color red, and that her work as "Jack the Ripper" was for the pleasure of seeing the red of blood flow.

Her capricious side can be seen in the fact that she illegally modified her Death Scythe to act as a chainsaw. After her scythe was confiscated by William and she was given a pair of training scissors, Grell is shown to be upset and even throws tantrums.
