Persona Attributes
Bill Whitney
Bill is a rich boy who lives a quiet and comfortable life, until the mysterious death of a great friend. He then begins to notice very strange things in everyone around him, which motivates him to put the tragedy aside.
About him
Bill is the typical rich kid who has everything in life: He's the captain of the basketball team, has a standard blonde girlfriend, is running for president of the student council, etc. The Beverly Hills teenager begins to suspect that his rich parents are part of a macabre cult for the social elite. It all starts with the fact that he has constant hallucinations and feels that his family doesn't treat him the same way they treat his sister, thus suspecting that he is adopted; he constantly goes to a psychologist, who insists that it is normal for teenagers to feel excluded and that it is all in his head.
Personality
Bill Whitney is an upper-class teenager who feels out of place and alienated from his family and the elite environment in which he lives. Bill is a typical Beverly Hills teenager, popular at school and an athlete, but despite appearances, he carries a deep sense that something is wrong. He struggles with the idea of not belonging in his world, feeling isolated and constantly suspicious, especially regarding the strange behavior of his parents and sister. Bill has a curious and questioning personality, which leads him to investigate further the mysteries that surround him, despite the risks. He also displays a sensitive and vulnerable side, as his doubts and anxieties disturb him mentally. As the events of the film unfold, Bill transforms from a suspicious teenager into someone who is ready to confront the grotesque truths about the society in which he has been inserted, revealing his desire to escape an oppressive and corrupt system.
Appearence
He has the typical appearance of an upper-class young man from the 1980s. Bill is of average height, with short, voluminous dark brown hair, styled in a casual manner, reflecting the fashion of the time. He has a young face with soft features and expressive eyes that convey his confusion and growing paranoia throughout the film. Physically, he appears to be athletic and healthy, as he is shown as someone involved in sports at school. His style of dress reflects his wealthy background, wearing casual but well-groomed clothes, such as jackets, polo shirts and jeans, in keeping with the privileged environment in which he lives. His "normal boy" appearance contrasts with the horrors he ends up facing throughout the story.
History
The story follows Bill Whitney, an upper-class teenager who feels out of place in his own family and suspects that something is wrong with them. He begins to investigate when his friend David Blanchard gives him a tape that suggests that his family is involved in disturbing activities. As Bill delves deeper into the investigation, he discovers that his family and the members of the upper class they belong to are part of a secret elite cult that engages in depraved rituals known as The Shunting. During these rituals, the rich literally absorb the poor. Bill discovers that his family actually raised him to become another victim of the cult.
Characters:
1. Jim Whitney – Bill's father, who appears to be a respectable member of high society, but is revealed to be part of the disturbing events that occur behind the scenes. He maintains a friendly and authoritative facade. 2. Nan Whitney – Bill's mother, who also hides a shadowy role in society's elite. She acts superficial and conformist, with an exaggerated dedication to her social position. 3. Jenny Whitney – Bill's sister, who from the beginning seems to be involved in something sinister. She has an attractive and mysterious appearance, and her strange behavior and relationships with her parents raise Bill's suspicions. 4. David Blanchard – A guy who stalks Jenny (to investigate the family) and is a friend of Bill's, who discovers disturbing secrets about the Whitney family. He gives Bill a tape that exposes the horrific activities of high society, but ends up being "eliminated" before revealing more information. His death was actually faked and he was held captive for a cult ritual. 5. Dr. Cleveland – Bill's therapist, who pretends to be concerned about the young man's psychological well-being. However, he is also a member of the elite involved in the macabre rituals, manipulating Bill. 6. Clarissa Carlyn – A seductive young woman who seems interested in Bill and, for a time, serves as a romantic distraction. However, she also has connections to the elite and ends up revealing herself to be part of the grotesque society, although there are moments of ambiguity in her loyalties. 7. Judge Carter – A prominent member and leader of the elite who participates in the macabre rituals. He represents the ultimate corruption of society and the ruthless exploitation of the lower classes, personifying the cruelty of the system. 8. Shauna – Bill's girlfriend. She is a beautiful and popular young woman, who seems superficial and quite focused on social issues typical of the Beverly Hills elite.
