Ost Horai (オスト=ホウライ, Osuto Hōrai) is a character from The Rising of the Shield Hero franchise. She was the human manifestation of the Spirit Turtle. Appearance Ost is a woman with Asian features. She has a slender build and is tall. She has bright brown hair and dark green eyes. She usually wears a dark green Chinese-style dress with a white ribbon floating behind her. During the court martial she is seen wearing a dark brown cloak. Personality Ost was a kind person, committed to the common good, which is why she used her beauty to start wars in the world in order to collect souls to stop the waves of calamity. It is noted that she possessed cunning and high intelligence. Thus, she was known by many politicians and personalities.

History

Ost, being the manifestation of the Turtle Spirit, had the mission of creating wars between the kingdoms so that the spirit could collect the souls it needed to stop the advance of the waves. But because the spirit was awakened by Kyo Ethnina, she had to appear before the council of kings to stop the destructive advance of the Turtle Spirit. She helped the shield hero to kill the Turtle Spirit by guiding him inside the turtle's body.

Curiosities

Ost comments that during a visit by Queen Mirellia to the Spirit Turtle Country, she pretended to be an evil concubine in order to stir up a war between the Kingdom of Melromac and the Spirit Turtle Kingdom because Melromac had summoned the Four Heroes before the other nations agreed. Ost's death was the reason why Naofumi decided to go to the glass world to take revenge on Kyo Ethnina.
