("Reaper, formerly known as Gabriel Reyes, was an exceptional soldier with a ‘sixth sense’ for danger due to his military training. After undergoing experiments performed by Dr. Moira O'Deorain, his body began to decompose and regenerate at a hyper-accelerated rate, turning him into a being that could transform into black smoke, but this left him in a state of constant agony. These same treatments affected his temperament, making him sadistic and violent. Born in Los Angeles, Reyes came from a family of Mexican origin. After graduating with a degree in criminology, he joined the Soldier Enhancement Program, where he became known as Soldier: 24. After the Omnic Crisis, Morrison was appointed leader of Overwatch, which led to tensions between the two, as Reyes was deemed too rebellious for the position. Despite his disenchantment, Reyes led the Blackwatch unit and recruited characters such as Cole Cassidy and geneticist Moira O'Deorain.As the relationship between Reyes and Morrison worsened, Reyes began to question the system he was defending, which intensified after his encounter with Doomfist. Doomfist sowed doubt in Reyes about who he was really protecting, eventually leading him to abandon his former loyalties and become Reaper, a ruthless assassin who hunted former Overwatch agents. Reaper joined Talon a year after the destruction of Overwatch HQ, sharing Doomfist's vision of establishing a new world order. However, Reaper was disturbed by the lack of cohesion within Talon, as its members followed their own interests. Still, he saw the organization as a tool to achieve his own ends of violence and revenge. “)
