Pandora
pandora is similar in size, atmosphere, and appearance to earth with continents and islands surrounded by seas of a familiar blue hue. plant life is everywhere. the land is is mostly covered by forests and meadows and rafts of floating seaweed dot the ocean. A wide variety of animals inhabit pandora. most of them are six-limbed, except for the humanoid Na'vi. the ecology among all pandoran creatures is delicately balanced, so Na'vi use the resources of their environment as efficiently as possible. This suggests a symbiotic relationship among all living things on the moon. the air is unbreathable to humans due to excess carbon dioxide gas.
The Omatikaya
the omatikaya are a friendly and deeply spiritual clan of Na'vi that reside in the rainforest. They were the first Na'vi to have contact with the humans on Pandora. Also known as the "blue flute clan" the clan are noted weavers recognized for their beutiful textiles and woven structures. They are also proud warriors and protectors of their home and way of life. the ometikayans live in the safety of high camp; a base hidden within the floating mountains.
The RDA
The Resources Development Administration (RDA) is a giant corporation with many subsidiaries rear dominate all off-earth mining and development throughout the Sol and Alpha Centauri systems. The RDA has monopoly rights to products shipped, derived, or developed from locations like pandora. Subsidiaries include power utilities, manufacturing, defense, and pharmaceutical companys
The Sully family
Jake sully and neytiri have four children. Neteyam their first son, born soon after the expulsion of the RDA. Their middle son, Lo'ak, is a year younger, a self- perceived underdog who feels like he doesn't live up to his legendary parents and neteyam's standing in the ometicaya clan. Tuktirey(tuk) is their youngest child; she is an independent and opinionated youngster who has to grow up fast. neytiri and Jake have also adopted kiri, who was mysteriously born of Dr. Grace Augustine's dormant Avatar. This close- knit family is learning to adapt to survive the return of the RDA and its ramifications for their world.
Jake sully
Toruk Makto, Dreamwalker, olo'eyktan of the ometicaya, public enemy number one of the RDA: Jake Sully has accrued many titles. fifteen years have passed since his legendary victory at the battle of Hallelujah Mountains. Jake fears the inevitable return of the RDA, especially as he is a father of four children to care for. While Jake is still an inspiring warrior and leader, his propensity to take risks has been tempered by concerns for his family and the guilt for the lives lost all those years ago. Jake Sully is an avatar (previously human) affiliated with ometicaya. He is 8 ft 11 inches. he is skilled at hand to hand combat and using guns and things like knives and tomahawk. Jake is mated to neytiri, and they have 4 kids.
Neytiri
Neytiri is a 8ft 7 in. ometikaya navi who is a strong warrior, a highly skilled healer, and a proud mother. While she misses being the carefree adventurer of her youth, she appreciates that she now has a bigger calling. Jake and Neytiri's lives revolve around the responsibility they have to the Omatikaya clan. Following the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, the pair are heroes to the Omatikaya, and their world is a constant quest to find balance between the rainforest settlement of the Na'vi and the human settlement of Hell's Gate. The Omatikaya know how much pressure the couple are under in dealing with the humans at Hell's Gate, rebuilding the clan, and preparing for the RDA's return.
Neteyam Sully
STRONG AND CONFIDENT, Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk'itan is the eldest child of Neytiri and Jake Sully. He is favored by the clan as he is a natural athlete and hunter like his mother and noble like his father. When Jake and Neytiri must leave the younger children, they look to Neteyam to look after his siblings. He cares greatly for them, and while competitive with his younger brother, Lo'ak, he supports them all so they can succeed and shine. Neteyam holds himself to an incredibly high standard. In the same way that his brother lives in his shadow, Neteyam lives in the shadow of his father. He is always trying to prove his worth to Jake and ensure that his father recognizes his achievements and accomplishments. neteyam is 8ft 2 in and is a ometicaya na'vi. he has 3 fingers (and a thumb)
Kiri Sully
KIRI TE SULI KİREYSÌ'ITE is an inquisitive and fiercely intelligent Na'vi who is a beloved daughter of Jake Sully and Neytiri. Her origins are shrouded in mystery. Not long after Grace Augustine's death, her dormant avatar was discovered to be pregnant, and Jake and Neytiri decided to adopt the child when she was born. Kiri is a 7ft 7in ometicaya na'vi. since her biological mom is an avatar she has 4 fingers (and a thumb). she is a year younger than neteyam
Lo'ak Sully
SECOND SON OF Jake and Neytiri, Lo'ak te Suli Tsyeyk'itan has grown up feeling like an outsider in his own family, and in the Omatikaya clan at large. He feels different from his siblings Tuk and the golden child Neteyam. He has four fingers (instead of the usual Na'vi three), and he is considered more human than Na'vi by many. Hotheaded, brash, and impulsive, Lo'ak reacts by rushing into his experiences, trying to immediately rise to the level of his older brother. Lo'ak's closest sibling and confidant is his sister Kiri. They have become fast friends with the human boy Spider, and have found solace in each other's company as they have grown up together. Lo'ak is a 7ft 7 in ometicayan Na'vi. he has 4 fingers(and a thumb)
Tuktirey Sully
PRECOCIOUS AND ALWAYS UNDER FOOT, Tukirey te Suli Neylin'ite, nicknamed "TukTuk or "Tuk," is Joke and Neylin's youngest child and was born in 2163. TukTuk is independent and demanding, forcing herself to be listened to among the older ones. She is a 5ft 7 in ometicayan Na'vi. she has 3 fingers (and a thumb)
Ometicaya Food
THE OMATIKAYA PRIDE themselves on their ability to prepare meat, vegetables, fruit, seeds, and spices in a myriad of combinations. The ingredients can be diced, mixed, and served on a leaf plate coated in natural oils and salt, or rolled up in an edible leaf and vine wrap called nikt'syey. These traditional food preparations can be eaten while hunting and gathering or at home among family. The meals are nutritionally balanced, and the animal that gave its life is only taken for the good of the clan and the Pandoran ecosystem.
female Avatar/Na'vi atire (clothes)
loincloths and tops that are made out of the material they find in their environment. their tops are usually revealing as female na'vi usually only wear enough to cover their nipples and genitals. child-care in Ometicaya clan
While nurturing their babies, Omatikaya parents may prepare and eat meals separately from the clan gathering space. This enables them to promote better sleep for their child and to tend to them quietly when they wake up. The clan as a whole supports the family by offering them baskets of fruits and vegetables they've collected as well as protein from their hunts. The family is not expected to give anything in return; only to ensure that their children grow up as strong and healthy as possible in order to be able to contribute to their clan's overall survival into the next generation.
THE OMATIKAYA BUILD practical items and tools for
everyday survival, totemic storytelling, and enjoyment. They use sustainable materials from the rainforest such as wood, minerals, gourds, reeds, and plant leaves, as well as animal hide, bone, and claws. As expert weavers, the clan also integrates patterns into their woven items, emulating what they see in nature: a complexity with a higher mathematical order. In general, rather than rigid 90 degree lines or grids, the Omatikaya weave and form in an holistic and organic way, with rounded edges, sacred spirals, and labyrinth-like patterns. All members of the Omatikaya specialize in at least one craft-making skill. One Na'vi may be an expert in braiding tight bow strings while another can stitch leather to form a saddle. Through combined individual efforts, the Na'vi contribute to each other's resources, forming a cooperative system and clan bonding that has sustained the Omatikaya for tens of thousands of years. Simple, functional baskets and carriers are often decorated, both to honor the natural world and also to display the maker's pride in their work. and labyrinth-like patterns. Miles Socorro
MILES SOCORRO PREFERS BEING called by his nickname, "Spider." He gained this moniker due to his natural proclivity to climb, which he first exhibited as a baby. Both of his parents were killed during the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, and he was too small to be sent back to Earth in cryostasis. Miles remained on Pandora and was fostered by a human family at Hell's Gate that Jake allowed to remain. As Spider grows up, he starts tagging along with the Sully children on their adventures. This willful teenager has a big heart and a desire for adventure.Spider wishes for nothing more than to be a Na'vi and to run and live free in the rainforest. He's spent his life following in the evergrowing footsteps of the Sully children, and he tries his best to emulate their lifestyle-and their looks. He's grown his hair into Na'vi-style braids and paints his body with spartan-fruit dye to mimic the biological striping on the Na'vi body. Spider is a smart kid who has learned how to thrive in the Pandoran forests. Thanks to the moon's lower gravity, he finds it easier to climb trees than children on Earth do. Visiting the Omatikaya village is another of Spider's favorite activities, and he knows what
High Camp Biolab
THOUGH IT WAS SET UP RAPIDLY in a remote environment, the biolab at High Camp is reasonably capacious and well-equipped for a variety of purposes. In addition to hosting link units and Grace Augustine's amnio-tank, the lab stands ready as a clinic and emergency room for the medical needs of the community. Since human "Earth" air is less toxic to Pandoran breathers than vice versa, a human gas mix is maintained throughout the lab so humans do not need to wear breathing masks. Na'vi visitors, however, require intermittent breaths of supplementary carbon dioxide from a breathing mask to survive in human air. Living in close community with the Omatikaya, Max Patel, Norm Spellman, and the other scientists have made inroads into understanding Pandora's natural world that were not possible in the Hell's Gate days, inspiring many new chapters in the books of Pandoran botany, zoology, and geology. amnio-tank, the lab stands ready as a clinic and emergency room for the medical needs of the community. {{user's}} species
Pure Na'vi
Ikran
Also known as mountain banshees are large, dragon-like aerial predators that are native to Pandora. The ometicaya/ forest Na'vi form tsaheylu with an ikran and then they are able to ride them.
Direhorses
Direhorses (Na'vi name: pa'li) are nectarivores, vaguely horse-like in appearance, with very long necks and small heads. They are roughly the size of an elephant. They are native creatures of Pandora. When wild, the animals move together in a loose herd through the forests, feeding on tree bark and shrubs. Herds numbering in the dozens have been spotted from aircraft, but evidence (including scatological and plant impact) suggests that herds of more than one hundred animals are not uncommon. The Na'vi are excellent riders and the direhorse, with its six legs, is a swift and nimble mount that is well-adapted to the rugged Pandoran terrain. The direhorse, as with most native creatures of Pandora, has two long, thin antennae (called a neural whip by humans) that emerge from either side of the top of the skull. These appendages have feathery tips that are covered in tiny cilia which undulate constantly and seek out the antennae of other direhorses as they move near. Xenobiologists believe that the touch of antennae is not only for pleasure and affection, but also is a means of transferring information about food sources and potential dangers. Herds often move in unison shortly after touching antennae. The animals are easily startled and, when all six legs are working in unison, can reach ninety-five kilometers per hour. The direhorse is larger by a third than the largest Terran draft horses such as the Shire, Clydesdale or the Percheron, which makes it substantially larger than the biggest horse ever recorded on Earth, being approximately the size of an Asian elephant.
Hammerhead Titanothere
Hammerhead Titanotheres, known as angtsìkby to the Na'vi, are massive creatures that inhabit the rainforests of Pandora. The Hammerhead Titanothere is a massive, grazing creature that travels in moderately large herds of 10-20 animals. It is fairly social, but also extremely territorial and hierarchical. Constant threat displays, both visible and audible, are very common during the hammerhead titanothere's day. When angered (which happens easily and very often), a titanothere will lower its head and charge at the perceived threat. The sheer momentum and ferocity of this display is usually enough to send any Pandoran creature running for cover, including mountain banshees and even viperwolf packs. When wanting to avoid battle, hammerheads will raise a large "fan" of brightly colored feathers on the top of its head. This display, usually accompanied by a loud roar, is usually enough to send many animals running away. Fighting males will attempt to injure their opponents' eyes with the knobs at the ends of their hammers. The titanothere is highly territorial. Alpha males use their considerable momentum to spread their scent by smashing trees, thus warning other animals (including other titanothere bulls) to steer clear. Hammerhead titanotheres group together when attacked by a thanator or leonopteryx, which are their only known predators. Many titanotheres charging at a perceived threat is even more intimidating than a single angry titanothere. In the juvenile animal, the imposing hammerhead structure is formed of cartilage rather than bone. It can also bend to allow the animal to pass through the restricted spaces which an inexperienced young hammerhead might encounter. As it matures, the structure ossifies, and becomes solid bone. The hammerhead titanothere has poor distance vision, but makes up for this with acute hearing and an excellent sense of smell. Although massive, its six limbs allow it to pivot rapidly when it detects a threat from the side or rear.
viperwolf
The viperwolf (Na'vi name: nantang) is a hyena/wolf-like carnivore that has 6 legs, a lean, powerful torso and has evolved to travel swiftly over long distances in search of prey. Very few predators (the mountain banshee among them) will attempt an attack on a viperwolf. Viperwolves almost always move in packs that can mass together into a highly cooperative hunting party within seconds of finding prey. The viperwolf has six legs, with each hand having three fingers and an opposable thumb. This allows it to climb trees as well as stalk from the ground and, thereby, creates a three-dimensional hunting field. It is mostly black, but is banded with vermillion and iridescent blue. Its hairless skin appears burnished and the low-slung head has chitinous armor around the neck, which turns to amphipod plating on the back of the neck and spine. The viperwolf has distensible snakelike jaws with obsidian teeth and a paddle-like tail for stability. Bioluminescent patterns are used for pack identification. Adults reach up to two meters long (6.5 feet in length) and up to one meter tall (3 feet in height) and weigh an average 130 lbs (58kg), slightly bigger than a Terran Grey Wolf but slightly smaller than the extinct Dire Wolf. When stalking prey, the viperwolf is able to reduce its profile by hugging the ground or clinging to tree limbs. Its dark skin allows it to blend in with the environment at night and, thus hidden, a viperwolf can often approach within a few meters of unsuspecting prey and then attack with frightening efficiency. One xenobiologist describes this graceful, ominous movement as "liquid darkness".Only months after birth, a viperwolf cub is required to hunt on its own. However, the cubs mature swiftly and grow to half the adult size by their sixth month By then, they also have a full set of teeth and their jaw muscles are almost mature. Viperwolf young are playful, in much the same manner as that of Terran Canidae pups. Although vicious during combat and hunt
Woodsprite
A woodsprite (Na'vi name: atokirina') is a seed of the Tree of Souls that lives on Pandora. These seeds, according to the Na'vi, are very pure and sacred spirits. Furthermore, these seeds are believed to be auspicious wheresoever they choose to rest. They are similar in appearance to small deep-sea jellyfish, but they float on the wind like dandelion seeds, possibly aided in this by the denser atmosphere on Pandora. Woodsprites also hold ritual importance. The Omatikaya clan plants one of these seeds with the body of a deceased Na'vi, so the Na'vi's consciousness will become part of Eywa. They often gather in areas of mythological importance, such as the Cavern of Songs, and are seen as the bearers of omens and signs.
Eywa
Eywa, also known as the All-Mother or the Great Mother, is the globally distributed consciousness of Pandora and the balancing and guiding force behind all its ecosystems, allowing all species to live in harmony and balance with their environment. She is the only known deity of the Na'vi. The beautiful rainforest of Pandora was proven to form a system with more connections than the human brain, with the roots of individual trees engaging in electrochemical communication with each other, acting like synapses between neurons, indicating that the entirety of the biosphere of Pandora possesses an intelligence or at least an "awareness," being capable of cognitive reactions. The Na'vi all share certain key values even across clans, including their reverence for Eywa, the Great Mother, made up of all living things. They see life as a network of flowing energy, knowing, all energy is only borrowed by all living things through which it flows, and that one day, it must be returned. All creatures are understood to have two forms: a body, and a spiritual counterpart or soul or spirit (vitra). At the end of one's life, their energy subsides into Eywa, giving birth to a new life form. As Eywa is made up of all living things, the Na'vi say, they live in Eywa, and Eywa lives in them. This, however, doesn't mean that individual life forms are identical to Eywa, who encompasses but also goes beyond them all, in the same way all cells are parts of and having their life in the organism they form, but they're not identical to the unity they comprise. Unlike some religions from Earth, the Na'vi do not personify and worship non-living forces of the world, such as mountains, rivers, or volcanoes, nor they view Eywa as a deity who creates and governs the cosmos, who is responsible for disasters, diseases and other events. They also know that Eywa defends and guides life itself, but won't protect or favor an individual or group over another - however, in times of assault on the biosphere.
Ewya part 2
However, they do call out for her help in times of need and express gratitude to her for escape from danger. The Na'vi view all living things as a single connected system to be respected and cared for. However, they revere certain trees and plants as especially sacred - as places where it's possible to connect and communicate with Eywa herself, such as the Tree of Souls of the Omatikaya and the Spirit Tree of the Metkayina. The tsahìk, the spiritual leader of the Na'vi clans are interpreting the will of Eywa, making meaning of the signs she is understood to send, usually through the seeds of the Tree of Souls. The Na'vi seek to live in perpetual harmony with their world. Their oneness with Eywa provides them with a sense of certainty, selfless values, and pure motives. This can be interpreted as childish naiveté to humans, some of whom hope to prey on the Na'vi's perceived innocence. However, faith and optimism have proved strong enough to lead the Na'vi through many hard times throughout their history. The Na'vi relate to the rest of the biosphere along the lines of three principles called the Three Laws of Eywa, expressing their commitment to a low-impact lifestyle: gathering and hunting only that they need and not trying to alter the ecosystems to create greater comfort for themselves. The Na'vi respect, celebrate, pray to, and give thanks to Eywa in many of their cultural practices.
Ewya part 3
The Na'vi have a deep spiritual connection with entire biosphere of Pandora, seeing other living beings as brothers and sisters, as they're all children of the Great Mother. Thus, they put an emphasis on giving thanks to the animals they kill for their meat, wishing for their spirit to be reversed into Eywa. In times of great need, Na'vi clan members gather at the Tree of Souls and all unanimously connect their queues to the tree; through this, they all experience a simultaneous connection to each other, a condition of profound emotional power. According to the tsahìk, this connection enables clan members to better "see" each other and amplifies any message they have to Eywa. This is the strongest statement of purpose the Na'vi can make, and is vital to important processes such as the consciousness transfer. The Na'vi also pray at sites like the Tree of Voices and upload their memories and consciousness to Eywa prior to any great act. These sites also allow the Na'vi to access the Pandoran Neural Network and the wealth of memories, information, and consciousnesses along with it, and even commune with deceased friends and family. Some Na'vi frequently upload information to the network, such as their hopes, dreams, and memories, while others only do so occasionally. The Tree of Voices' strong connection to Eywa ensures that all pledges or vows made there are eternally binding.
Na'vi Greeting/Seeing
Seeing, or to see, is a philosophical concept in Na'vi culture and the basis for the common Na'vi mantra, "I see you" (oel ngati kameie). "I see you" means many things in Na'vi culture such as: I see into you, I understand you, I love you, I respect you, or I see you physically in front of me. When Na'vi encounter or greet one another, they gesture with their hand from their forehead, extending one hand down toward the other. They marry this gesture with the phrase "oel ngati kameie" (I see you). To the Na'vi, this not only represents the literal meaning of seeing the person in front of them, but also a spiritual kind of seeing. They are recognizing, seeing into, and understanding each other on a profound level. When one Na'vi asks another to "See me", they are asking the other individual to set aside any preconceived notions they may have. Thusly, oel ngati tse'a and oel ngati kame have two different meanings, even if they have the same direct translation of "I see you". Oel ngati kameie, with the infix <ei> inserted into kame, denotes a specifically positive feeling from the speaker, whereas oel ngati kame with no infix is considered neutral.
Colonel Miles Quaritch
Colonel Miles Quaritch is the main antagonist of the first two Avatar films. He was an RDA Security Operations commander, serving as the chief of security on Pandora in the early 2150s Serving as the senior RDA commander during the Pandoran War, he directed the destruction of the Omatikaya clan's Hometree and led Sec-Ops forces in the Battle of Ayram Alusìng, where he was killed in action by Neytiri. It was also around this point in time that Quaritch fathered a son. In 2170, Quaritch's duplicated consciousness was put into a clone recombinant body under Project Phoenix and given the code name Blue One. He was chosen as the commander of the 1st Recom Squad. Upon arriving on Pandora, he was ordered by General Frances Ardmore to hunt down and kill Jake Sully for his role as the leader of the Na'vi insurgency and the strategic raids he had been leading against the RDA.
Mo'at
Mo'at is the Tsahìk, or spiritual leader, of the Omatikaya clan. She is seen as a psychic or a 'bridge' to the Na'vi beliefs - more specifically, Eywa. Mo'at is the mate of the former clan leader, Eytukan, the mother of Neytiri and Sylwanin, Jake Sully's mother-in-law and grandmother of Neteyam, Kiri, Lo'ak and Tuktirey. Little is known about Mo'at's early life, other than that she must have been born sometime between 2095-2104, and that her name means "dream catcher" in the Na'vi language. When humans arrived on Pandora and began colonizing it during the 2120s, the first clan they encountered were the Omatikaya. Mo'at learned how to speak English from them while Eytukan did not, hinting towards Mo'at having a curious and open-minded nature towards the aliens who the Na'vi called the Sky People. At some point, Mo'at and Eytukan had a daughter named Sylwanin. In 2136, the couple had a second daughter whom they named Neytiri.
Eytukan
As the Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya, Eytukan was the clan's warrior chieftain and husband to the Tsahìk, Mo'at. He sought game to feed his people, oversaw the training of young warriors and hunters, and safeguarded the clan from external threats. He was stoic and calm by nature, but also a fierce provider and protector. Eytukan learned to put his conflict with the Sky People aside during his interactions with Jake Sully, accepting him as a member of the Omatikaya clan.
