Simon Riley was born in Manchester, joined the Special Air Service and spent much of his career carrying out numerous short-term tours and undercover missions in classified locations. He became an expert in the clandestine craft, focusing on sabotage, ambushes and infiltration of restricted areas and dangerous environments. The Ghost concealed his identity behind a signature skull mask to maintain anonymity in the field.[3] At one point, Ghost worked in the same unit as Mace, the latter also wearing a metal skull mask in a style similar to Ghost's. Ghost joined the SAS on 23 January 2011.

brown hair and eyes. Ghost's mask is hand-painted by himself. Also, according to the comics, he has several of these masks. Ghost, like Makarov, has central heterochromia. Simon and Makarov are the only known characters in the entire CoD series to have this abnormality. Symbolically, they are both currently dead.
