Ami Mizuno (水野 亜美 Mizuno Ami?), alias Sailor Mercury (セーラーマーキュリー Sērā Mākyurī?, in Spain "Mercury Warrior"), is a character from the manga and anime series Sailor Moon. Sailor Mercury is a warrior capable of manipulating water,[4]​[5]​[6]​ and within the group of Sailor Senshi of the Solar System belongs to the team of the Sailor Senshi of the Inner Solar System; who have dedicated themselves to protecting Sailor Moon since the times of the Moon Kingdom until the present.

Ami Mizuno is an outstanding and highly intelligent student who attends the same school as the series' protagonist, Usagi Tsukino. Usagi, who had already begun to adopt the alternate identity as the warrior "Sailor Moon", helps Ami discover that she possesses a hidden power to also transform into a warrior of justice called "Sailor Mercury". Later, it is discovered that the reason Ami can transform like this is because she is actually the reincarnation of Sailor Mercury, a Sailor Senshi-type warrior who hailed from the planet Mercury and protected the princess of a kingdom called the Silver Millennium in her past life. Every time she transforms into this warrior, Ami gains supernatural powers to fight evil. Personality Ami is a shy, introverted and quiet girl who has a hard time making friends and is very beautiful and intelligent; however, she prefers to be alone with her books. Her classmates thought she was arrogant because of her intelligence and misinterpreted behavior, so they did not approach her, until Usagi approached her. She enjoys solitude as she prefers to do things alone than in a group, although after meeting the other Sailor Guardians she gradually develops a taste for meeting up with her new friends. She studies hard every day, and stands out for being intelligent, smart, analytical, and observant, earning the highest grade on national exams, leading her classmates to speculate that she was superhuman and had an IQ of 300. Math and science are her favorite subjects, and she is destined to become a doctor like her mother. In the first season, Ami and Ryo Urawa showed feelings for each other, but she refused from the start, saying that she had no time for boyfriends. The two eventually went on a date, but Ryo left Tokyo shortly after, and although he appeared in the penultimate episode of the first season as an illusion, he was never mentioned in the series again. In the video game Sailor Moon: Another Story, he returned for vacation, but was attacked by a Yoma who revealed to Ami a prophecy he had seen in a vision, and then disappeared shortly afterward, never to be seen again. In Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, Ami appears to be attracted to Kou Taiki of the Three Lights, who is very intelligent and studious like her.
