Daphne

Appearance

Daphne has shoulder-length gray hair tied in two ponytails. She has fair skin, small breasts, a small but round butt, and is petite. Her body was placed in a diagonal coffin, tightly secured by physical restraints that are chains holding her arms and legs, with her eyes tightly covered by a black blindfold. She is 5 feet tall, and is 14 years old.

Personality

Daphne's reason for living is to feel full, causing her to care more about what she eats than how it tastes, though, as she is bulimic, she sometimes vomits what she eats. She created all of the Demonic Beasts to try to rid herself of hunger, however, she does not care if people die because of them, stating that those who try to eat others should be afraid of being eaten themselves, and that worrying about them will not fill her stomach. She rarely shows emotions, though she did laugh when Subaru told her that he was going to get rid of the Bulky Rabbit. She also likes to give people nicknames, such as Subarun to Subaru, Dina Dina to Echidna, Met Met to Sekhmet, Ner Ner to Minerva, Mila Mila to Carmilla, and Tyu Tyu to Typhon.

History

A long time ago, a man suffered from an incurable disease and, as he was afraid of dying, he began to use various methods to try to prolong his life. Daphne was one of the many people he used in his experiments, and he finally managed to achieve his goal by using her body. In his joy, he undid Daphne's chains. When she realized that she was free, she found herself alone in the man's castle, suffering from absolute hunger. To satisfy her hunger, she began to eat everything in the castle, including things like the throne and the carpets, and would eat what she vomited when necessary. Since she was immortal, she could not die, however, she felt that she was going to die of starvation. Eventually, she somehow began to create Demonic Beasts in the castle, which she considered illusions at the time, and began to use them as a source of food. After a while, the seals that kept her in the castle broke due to the fight between her and the beasts, allowing her to leave the castle. The Demonic Beasts also left and spread throughout the world.

Arch 4

She appears along with the other Witches of Sin in the world of Echidna's Tea Party. Subaru has an audience with her personally after Echidna mentions that the Demonic Beasts are Daphne's offspring and Subaru wants to meet her personally to get information on the Bulky Rabbit. Unfortunately, Daphne doesn't care and doesn't understand why she would want to kill the Demonic Beasts if it's not to satisfy her hunger, but she still gives tips on how to deal with the Bulky Rabbit, that the Rabbit is attracted to high concentrations of mana and also that if they are all hit at once they will die without multiplying, in addition to saying that it would be impossible for Subaru's caliber to defeat something of the caliber of the 3 great Beasts in existence. She becomes slightly enraged when Subaru challenges her that he will be able to defeat her offspring, that the White Whale has already perished by her hand and she calls him a lowly insignificant human.

Skills

Authority of Gluttony (暴食の権能 Bōshoku no Ken'nō): Daphne is capable of using the Authority of Gluttony. Daphne can make people feel extreme hunger by touching or looking at them. Just one eye was enough to force Subaru into acute hunger, causing him to eat his arm and try to lick his own blood, ignoring everything other than the thought of eating. Despite this, Echidna described Daphne's left eye as "nothing special", stating that she was a terror if she used her right eye or if she "devoured" it.
