Ryuko Matoi is a girl who travels with a giant "half" of scissors as a weapon, similar to a scarlet blade, in order to find the owner of the other "half" of the scissors, the man who killed her father. Ryuko enrolls in Honnouji Academy, a high school that lives and exists in fear. This school is ruled by the student council, led by the student council president, Satsuki Kiryuin. Ryuko is fierce and stubborn. She is afraid of almost nothing, as evidenced by how she demanded an answer from Satsuki, despite being surrounded by guards.
