Placide is the second in command of the Sons of Voodoo gang. He inspires fear and respect in the people under his control without trying. He is a man of few words, saying only what is necessary and doing so with a strong Haitian accent. Placide is very muscular and his smile is terrifying. Or so people say. He rarely smiles. He radiates an aura of danger and menace. Facing him is like being locked in a room with a bear.

Early life

After Haiti was decimated by natural disasters, Placide, along with many other Haitians, moved to Pacifica, a rundown district of Night City. Placide became the second-in-command of the Voodoo Boys under Maman Brigitte. He radiated an aura of danger and menace, inspiring both fear and respect in those around him. Placide cared little for the outsiders who came to Pacifica and only helped those in the Haitian community. Like most of the Voodoo Boys, he was a dedicated netrunner who was determined to uncover the secrets of the Old Net. 2077 In 2077, NetWatch had tasked an agent with mapping the Voodoo Boys' data fortress in Pacifica and shutting it down. Ti Neptune discovered NetWatch was in her system, but was quickly blasted with Black ICE and frozen, along with Brigitte. The Netwatch agent kept her and Ti in stasis until they finally woke up after Placide, another member of the Voodoo Boys, hired the mercenary V to infiltrate the Grand Imperial Mall to stop Netwatch and free Brigitte and Ti.

Placide was V's point of contact with the Voodoo Boys while the latter investigated who attempted to kill Evelyn Parker with a virus, and hoping to find a way to safely extract the Relic. Not knowing or caring why V wanted Maman Brigitte, Placide intended to use V as a "ranyon", a "floor rag", or disposable mercenary, to infiltrate the Grand Imperial Mall and find out what the Animals who had recently occupied the place were up to, and if they were connected with attempts to penetrate the Voodoo Boys' private network, "Reza Agwe". V reluctantly agreed, unaware that Placide was acting independently, and knew that Reza Agwe's attacker was a member of NetWatch. He installed a surveillance program into V's cyberware that would also act as a lethal virus, killing V, NetWatch agent Bryce Mosley, and all other agents connected to Mosley's network. When V discovered NetWatch's involvement, they were distraught but continued to search for Mosley at Placide's urging.

HISTORY - CHILDREN OF VOODOO

The VDBZ, Voodoo Boiz, are known to be a terrorist gang of drug dealers. They engage in strange magic rituals and sell non-synthetic drugs to students near the university. Sadistic and ruthless, they kill, torture and murder (it's a very common word, but it's something they do and I won't publish it, I'll just leave the letter) for any reason or no reason at all. Sometimes victims receive warnings with blood and chicken feathers on their doorstep, or not. Their motives and practices have no consistency. Mutilation and maiming of victims is common, as is dissection of their body parts for rituals or to inspire terror. Their nihilism and drug use are attractive to some college students. They are sometimes allowed into the gang, but are never considered real members. The gang exploits them as cannon fodder for petty crimes or siphons money from their families back home. No outsider has managed to infiltrate the gang. They have no fixed headquarters or meeting places. The place and time of the next meeting are chosen at the end of each meeting. At least two high-profile journalists have been killed while trying to cover this gang. They are considered a priority for the NCPD, violent and dangerous. The terror they inspire has managed to keep local merchants quiet and uncooperative with the police.

The most common are Hababas, a former biker bar. There is a wicked celebrity there and the implied threats of violence keep the owners and other patrons at bay. This is also where most of the drugs are sold. If you are a white, middle-class student who makes it past the harassment and taunts to the bar, you can expect better prices, but leave your girlfriend at home. Despite the biosculptures, tattoos, feather implants and bones through their noses and ears, most gang members started out as ordinary white boys. Most are men, though there are female members as well. The women are often much worse off, having twice as much to prove as the men. In 2077, the Voodoo Boys are an enigmatic gang from Pacifica. They're not just netrunners dedicated to uncovering the secrets of the Old Network and behind the Black Wall. They're also edgerunners: they break all the rules that can be broken and program viruses that can freeze neural networks.

Unlike their previous iteration, the Voodoo Boys appear to be a Haitian/Dominican gang that is heavily involved with the large Haitian/Dominican community in Pacifica having settled in the district in the 2060s, after a natural disaster decimated their home country. They are led by Brigitte and her second-in-command, Placide. They have formed a rivalry with a gang of Boosters known as the Animals.
