In this form, Dodomeki resembles a glowing yellow eye with three dark rings covered in eyes, as well as six beige wings on the left and right sides of the rings. The wings are the same as those on her head in her normal appearance, and the rings around the glowing eye are in fact Dodomeki's arms in a miniaturised vesion.

History

This character's backstory is still unknown for now. However, she was formerly in the Kiiroibara Cult, as "Kiiroibara" is one of the words that flashes across the player's screen during a skill check. As well as this, she is also featured in one of Senzai's paintings inside the Uchiumi Residence. Her character design also has some ties with the Kiiroibara Cult; yellow roses and serpents—two signature symbols of the Kiiroibara Cult. She is also based on a yōkai with the same name (also known as Todomeki in alternate readings). A Dodomeki is a woman who gets cursed due to her habit of stealing money. These women are punished by having their long arms covered with hundreds of bird eyes. Based on these supporting factors, it has been speculated that Tomiko might have been a greedy, acquisitive woman during her past life as a human and was sent to Jigoku after her demise as a punishment for her wicked behaviors as a human being. However, it is unknown why and how, but instead of roaming as a lost and tortured soul, Tomiko was reborn into a demon of Jigoku and guards the Cavern of Wealth layer.

Personality

Dodomeki is extremely aggressive and will pursue if a player gets 3 mistakes during the skill check or moves while "YIELD" is activated.

Gameplay Appearances

Gameplay Appearances Chapter III Dodomeki will dig out of the ground once Isamu has rung every bell at the Cavern of Wealth. During a "YIELD", the player must stop moving and press the buttons that appear on the screen. If they move during the duration of the attack or miss too many buttons, Dodomeki will chase after them and kill them. After unlocking every door, Isamu is taken to another location within the Cavern of Wealth. Dodomeki will follow him through the door and chase him until he gets to the exit.

Temperance

Extremely fast and aggressive: If the player moves during "YIELD", the player will be marked with a "死" kanji, meaning death. If the player sees it on their screen, the chance of survival is very slim. She's also extremely fast and can catch up to the player with ease. NOTE: There is a very small chance that you can survive even though you are marked by "死" as long as Dodomeki is far from you and the "YIELD" sequence is almost over. Chase Sequence She is now a bit slower than you, but will still relentlessly chase the player as she would constantly break the walls in front of the player to catch and jumpscare the player.

Powers abilities

Powers and Abilities Proximity Curse: Whenever Dodomeki is hunting the player(s), she will shout "YIELD (止)" in a deep, demonic tone, and every player in the area is required to stop moving and do a series of QTEs by pressing numbers as they appear. If the player fails multiple times to press the numbers or move during the "YIELD" phase, Dodomeki will quickly chase after and kill the player. Wall Crawling: During the chase sequence, Dodomeki uses her many tentacle-like arms to crawl against walls and keep herself above the ground. Navigation: Dodomeki seems to be able to locate the player easily after they fail to "YIELD". She is also able to appear behind the walls in front of the players during the chase sequence, presumably using her navigation skills. Enhanced Strength: Dodomeki is strong enough to break walls when chasing the player, likely using her four big arms. Enhanced Speed: Dodomeki displays fast movements during "YIELD" as she runs around the Cavern of Wealth using her long and stretchable arms. For some reason, she no longer used this ability while chasing the player. Teleportation (Likely): As shown in the chase sequence, Dodomeki teleports 3 times trying to catch the player. Conjuration (Likely): After the bell puzzle, an arm which looks similar to Dodomeki's pops up from the ground as the bell emits a sound. Voice changing (Likely): Even though If Dodomeki is a female, she can change her sound, even to a male-like voice. We can hear while she says "YIELD" , and it makes as that she can change her own voice. Because of that, it led fans think that Dodomeki is a male, even though if she is a female. Everyone doesn't know her original voice as of now. Aurokinesis: It was stated by a lore writer that sinners who return as demons in Jigoku will gain powers based off of their life on earth, meaning that Dodomeki would have Aurokinesis due to her implied obsession with gold.[2]

Jumpscares

Jumpscares In her regular jumpscare, Dodomeki pins Isamu down using two of her long arms before using the free arm to grab his face and crush him into the ground. In her chase jumpscare, Dodomeki lightly shakes her head before slamming Isamu into the ground with her arm.

trivia

Dodomeki is the fastest monster in The Mimic, as her speed is 120 when honing in on a player. Dodomeki is based on a yokai with the same name, meaning "hundred-hundred-eye demon." Just like the Yokai she was based on, Dodomeki is a greedy creature who steals money with her long arms. This is the reason piles of yen coins were found throughout the Cavern of Wealth. She was also referred to as "Lady Greed" in her first reference sheet and as "慾, yoku", literally meaning "desire, greed" in-game. Dodomeki might be a mix of Christian angels (Ophanim specifically because of her lantern form) and Japanese folklore with her design. Dodomeki is now the second monster in the game to have words appear along with a static screen when getting pursued, with the first being Kurayami. Dodomeki was aptly given the nickname "Yield" upon release of Jealousy's Chapter 3 since that was the only word she would verbally say. She and Hyakume, a minor antagonist in Jealousy's Book: Chapter I, have their Japanese name translations roughly mean "hundred-eyed demon". Unlike Hyakume who only has 15 eyes instead of over 100 like the yokai it's based on, Dodomeki is estimated to have over 121 eyes, around 39 real eyes on each arm and 5 more if including the yellow eyes on both her arms and belt. There is a bug/oversight where if a player moves during a "YIELD" and another player is standing in front of them, Dodomeki will kill the player who was in front of the target and stop chasing the one who started the chase. Unlike Ryoshi and Teiryu, Dodomeki is not guaranteed to kill her victims once they are marked with the "死" kanji, meaning the victim can still avoid being killed when they're lucky that her rampaging time runs out or is far away from her. In the chase sequence, you can take a hidden route and wait for Dodomeki to pass. After a few seconds, if you go back to the map, you'll be behind Dodomeki. If you try to go to the exit, you will see Dodomeki blocking your way, T-posing. Many players

Carven of wealth

LEVEL Medium - Hard LOCATION Jigoku INHABITANTS Hakamori Dodomeki Shinchu

The Cavern of Wealth is the third location in Jealousy's Book: Chapter III. This is where Isamu has to ring bells, while killing Shinchus and avoiding Dodomeki.

Storyline

After walking along the long, winding tunnel, Isamu pulls a sword out of the muck, and meets Hakamori, who suspects that Isamu found his way there because of the old man Keneo, and informs him that he has to ring all the bells to pass. Isamu does so, killing the Shinchus blocking his way. Isamu needs to do a memory puzzle to ring each bell. When a bell is rung, Dodomeki's hand emerges from the ground and tries to grab Isamu, who has no choice but to hurt her with his weapon to send her hand back into the ground. Once all bells are rung, the ground begins to rumble and Dodomeki emerges from the ground. Isamu keeps himself steady doing quick time events as she passes, so that she does not sense him. He then goes to the exit, where he solves a puzzle. The exit door opens and he walks out of the cavern. However, Dodomeki spots him and chases him wildly through a collapsing chasm into the Twisted Lake.

Information

Ambience The map is covered with thick, red fog that hinders the player's ability to see clearly

Description

The Cavern of Wealth is composed of multiple pillar ruins and dimly lit lights. Aside from the ruins, the cavern has certain areas where the bells are located that the player must ring in order to progress. Under the bells is a memory puzzle (similar to The Tower) where you need to solve the puzzle two times to ring the bell. After ringing the bell, Dodomeki's hand will emerge from the ground and spin, trying to find the player to grab it. The players can attack Dodomeki's hand with the Bone Machete so they can progress further in the chapter. Shinchus guard the caverns and damage the players if they touch them, but the players can kill the Shinchus by just slashing their sword once towards it. There are multiple coin stacks that appear around the map, and the puzzle doors will usually spawn on top of a pile of coins.

Gameplay

Strategy The number of bells that need to be rung stack upon how many players there are. Before you ring the bell, kill the Shinchus first because they can damage you while you're doing the memory game puzzle. When you complete the memory game puzzle, Dodomeki's hand will emerge from the ground to try to grab you. If you're speed running, you can avoid this by going out of its range by sprinting away a bit further. Once Dodomeki's hand stops by standing idle, you can attack it to make it leave, so you can progress further. After ringing certain amount of bells, the Bone Machete will disappear and the ambience will change as Dodomeki will spawn on the middle trying to find the player(s) if they move during the YIELD phase or fail four times in the QTEs. There will be a door indicator where you need to go to solve its puzzle in order to progress, the door has four shapes that are merged onto each other where you need to input it on the slider. The door's shape pattern is the same for any other door that will spawn on the map so you could just memorize what you put into the door. When you hear Dodomeki say "YIELD" while sprinting towards the door or while solving it, quickly stop and do the QTEs that appear on your screen as they are fairly slow so you could just click it. However, if you fail four times, Dodomeki will chase after you. Due to a bug, Dodomeki can kill a player if her body touches someone who's doing the QTEs when another player moves during the YIELD phase. This can be heard if you hear her rapid stomping.

Trivia

There is seen a hidden route that lets you get out of the chase sequence map. If you go back in the chase map, you will find yourself behind Dodomeki. If you try go back to spawn while behind Dodomeki, she'll kill you.[1] The chase sequence here is arguably the hardest in the game, since there are small tight spaces, Dodomeki is very fast, and there are so many twists and turns to go through.
