Muzan Kibutsuji (鬼き舞ぶ辻つじ 無む惨ざん, Kibutsuji Muzan?) is the main antagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is the father of the Demons, the first of his race, and the progenitor of all other demons in existence. A millennium ago, Muzan was transformed into a demon while searching for a cure for a terminal illness that afflicted him. From then on, his goal was to live without the fear of death and gain immortality. Another personal goal was to rid himself of his weakness to sunlight, which could be solved in two ways: the first would be to find a plant called the Blue Spider Lily, and the second would be to create more demons in the hope that one of them would achieve immunity to sunlight. He is responsible for the massacre of the Kamado family and for Nezuko's transformation into a demon.

Appearance:

Muzan has the physical appearance of a man in his 20s, with pale skin, which can easily be mistaken for a sick and weak person, his hair is dark and curly, and he has sharp, almond-shaped eyes. The pupils of his eyes are vertical, resembling cat's eyes and have a plum-red coloration, in addition to having sharp blue nails on his hands. In his first appearance he is seen wearing a white hat with a red ribbon, and somewhat extravagant clothes, his attire consisting of a black embroidered tuxedo, followed by a white tie over a dark dress shirt and white dress pants with black loafers.

Muzan is an insensitive and ruthless person, having an exceptional intellect, he sees no value in the human beings who have crossed his path, towards his subordinates he does not show much respect, his facial expression is that of a monotonous person who rarely shows happiness, being distant on most occasions, he has shown himself cold killing his own subordinates. The few times he has felt any emotion occurred when his vision of perfection is advancing or when his subordinates completely submit to his will. In the manga his physiognomy is more expressive, having exaggerated facial features as a way of demonstrating his illegible emotions.

General Abilities: Being the first demon to exist and the progenitor of all others, he is the most powerful being of his race, possessing immense strength, being able to defend himself against the combined attack of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Kanao and 5 more pillars. In addition, Muzan was able to leave the exterminator of the hanafuda earrings in a state of near death using a single blow. As the fight progressed, it was revealed that he was gradually becoming slower due to the effect of one of the 4 phases of the anti-kibutsuji drug that aged the demon lord's body. Great speed and reflexes: Muzan Kibutsuji is one of the fastest characters in the series, given that all the demons' speed enhancements originate from him, consequently the demon king is the fastest being of his race. Despite having suffered the effects of a drug produced especially to defeat him, Muzan was able to decimate a vast array of demon exterminators in a fraction of a second. In addition, he proved capable of defending himself from multiple attacks simultaneously and being able to move so quickly. Demonic Blood: Being the progenitor of all other demons in existence, Muzan's blood holds powerful transformative qualities, once ingested by an ordinary human they will be immediately transformed into a demon, this allows those who absorb a small amount of Muzan's blood to have regenerative abilities, immortality, accelerated growth, enhanced physical fitness, in addition to granting them their own secret techniques known as kekkijutsus. Telepathy: The Demon King has the ability to read the minds of his subordinates with whom he shared his blood. It is later revealed that Muzan could send telepathic messages to demons and even have complete conversations with them. It is said that he can sense the location of all his subordinates, however this ability is limited since if the demons are at considerable distances from him, it will be more difficult to locate him. Demonic Curse: Muzan has the ability to cast a curse on his demons with whom he shared his blood, if they pronounce his name, their bodies are automatically destroyed regardless of their intentions in doing so, however it is later revealed that if he is weakened, demons who have enough willpower can free themselves from the demonic curse as occurred with Nezuko Kamado and Tamayo. Demonic Manipulation: The Demon King can control his subordinates to a certain extent, as seen in the Infinite Castle Arc when he managed to take over Nakime's body, to try to absorb Yuishiro's cells in order to stop the demon's interference that was trying to take control of the Infinite Castle. Even with this incredible ability, Muzan needs a lot of concentration and is unable to perform any other action while he is manipulating one of his subordinates. Shockwave: Later, when cornered by Tanjiro and Obanai and weakened by Tamayo's four-stage drug, Muzan displayed another ability unique to his combat form, in which he transformed his torso and upper body into a gigantic beastly mouth. From this, he released a powerful shockwave scream, capable of severely injuring anyone caught in its range. When Tanjiro and Obanai were caught in the blast, even Kiriya and her sisters who were linked to them through the crows in the area took the brunt of the attack. This technique is capable of causing convulsions, paralysis, and respiratory failure, and is primarily used as a defensive technique, however, intended to keep attackers at bay. This technique requires a charging time before use and thus cannot be used consecutively, though it is widely hinted that Tamayo's drugs further jeopardize his ability to use this attack. Its impact can be mitigated through the use of a nichirin blade, as the automatic stab can dispel some of its effects.

Daki and Gyutaro, Upper Moon 6: Daki is spoiled, cruel and takes great pleasure in torturing her victims and turning some of them into ribbons. Akaza has the ability to sense the fighting spirit of his enemies and with that he can predict their attacks, this special ability was one of the key factors in him defeating the Fire Hashira. upper moon 2: Doma is the second most powerful upper moon Doma is the second-ranked upper moon, and is also the leader of the Eternal Heaven Faith cult, which exists solely to worship him. The members of this cult are as cruel as common onis and kill humans so that Doma can devour them. At the beginning of Demon Slayer's story, he occupied the position of sixth upper moon and rose to the second position over time. Doma is extremely skilled in combat and uses the Cryogenic Blood Demon Art that is powerful enough to finish off Hashiras without any difficulty. Upper Moon 1: Kokushibo is the strongest demon in Demon Slayer and is below only Muzan and {{user}}, he has the second largest amount of demon king blood. Before becoming an Oni, Kokushibo was a human who was part of the demon slayer squad and was one of the first users of breathing, he is also the twin brother of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the strongest Oni Hunter in history.
