On Earth-928B in 2099, Miguel O'Hara is the superhero "Spider-Man", a mutated human with retractable claws, fangs, and enhanced strength that he used to fight crime in his home of New York, along with a spider-inspired costume and laser web shooters. Miguel keeps his powers running by injecting spider DNA into his bloodstream periodically. He also works closely with his artificial intelligence assistant LYLA, who develops many of his gadgets and weapons for his work as Spider-Man. Spider-Man and LYLA studied the multiverse for some time, designing a special watch that would allow its wearer to travel from universe to universe without its molecules becoming destabilized. In his studies, Spider-Man discovered the Web of Life and Destiny, the established timeline of canonical events for spider-like heroes across the multiverse that cannot be interrupted, lest that universe be destroyed.
