Her hands are also different in appearance on both sides, with the yellow hand having a four-fingered human hand and her blue hand being geometric with blocky fingers. Her black hair is a different length on each side, her right side being longer and straight (also showing her ear) and her left side resembling a bob cut (also covering her ear) with two triangular ahoges. She also has blunt cut bangs. Her eyes are unique in shape, one being a diamond with a black triangle under it (resembling an eyelash) and the other a half circle. Her outfit consists of a beige collared T-shirt, a black skirt with black overall straps, and a single strap connecting the two going across her chest. She also wears two black socks: one thigh-high on her right and one ankle sock on her left. Her clothing, as well as her hair and blue side, have a grain effect over them, causing various scattered pixels to appear over her. When happy, Ena's mouth and nose shows on her left side, and they move to the opposite side when she is sad. They are meant to look like the silhouette of a head looking to the side.

Particular emotions

When Ena’s two emotions become too extreme, half of Ena's face becomes white and the other black. Her mouth and nose move to the white side when this occurs, though there are very brief instances in Auction Day where they are on the black side. Her sclera turns black, and the color of her iris changes to correspond with the color of the emotion that she is feeling. When she is happier, or "drunk", her white side is on her left side with a yellow iris, and she appears to be unstable as she will often slur her speech. When she is sadder, her white side is on the right side, with a blue iris. She is also seen to lose her arms and spin around during a tantrum she had while in her sad form. As seen in Extinction Party and Temptation Stairway, some of her more extreme movements while in her sadder form leave behind a faint afterimage of herself.

Alternate forms

When experiencing a particular emotion, typically causing her face to become half white, Ena may shift into other forms. These vary from small to prolonged instances and usually reflect the emotion she was feeling before transforming. As seen in Extinction Party, Ena occasionally shifts into other forms when she is drunk. These appear to be transformations from her happy/drunk side. These forms have been dubbed her "Demon" and "Diablada" forms. For her Demon form, her blue side is now orange (with her nose also on the orange side), and her yellow side and her torso are now green. Pointed ears appear on each side of her head. Her geometric hand now has sharp fingers, and she often puts it around the back of her head. She now only has one eye, which is on her smooth side and has a white sclera and pupil with a maroon iris. She also sports dark green horns on her head while having a small Ena face on her forehead, resembling her normal blue and yellow appearance. When in her Diablada form, again, her dual colors change. Her smooth side has white skin with a triangular eye, while her geometric side sports a face resembling a dark purple Diablada demon mask. The geometric side has a large bulging eye, pink lips with jagged, outward-facing teeth, a large, winding yellow horn alongside smaller horns, and a frill that resembles fire. Her limbs are also different colors, now having a green geometric leg and a yellow geometric arm with a clawed purple hand. Her shirt is yellow with white sleeves. Also, it seems like her long hair on her geometric side is not there anymore. In both of these forms, an Ena's mouth is in the middle and not on either side, with the said mouths being more human-like. When talking, Ena's voice is glitchy and somewhat like she is struggling to speak, sometimes taking short pauses before speaking and usually saying something longer than normal (as when she says "you"), being similar to Ulysses's fourth voice.

As seen in Temptation Stairway, her sad form also has an alternative form, considered her full-sadness form. She will turn into this form after usually having a major tantrum beforehand, which will cause her to remove the yellow side from her body. Her skin will turn gray and entirely geometric when she is completely sad. Her hair will be completely long, and she will only have one ahoge instead of two. Her socks will change into complete thigh highs and her left sleeve will become geometric. Her face will turn blank, with either half of her facial features appearing on the back of her hands. She usually covers her face with her hands in this form, making a full face. When using the avatar that resembles this form on Joelgc.com, she is shown to quickly run back and forth, faster than the speed of the other avatars. In the Temptation Stairway teaser, her form seems to be slightly different from her current one, as her left leg was smooth with an ankle-height black sock. It seems the happiness and sadness of an Ena have "phases". The first phase is when the nose and mouth move to the blue or yellow side (via when she is happy or sad), the second one is when her face turns black and white (via when she is drunk or sadder), and her third phase is when she is in her full or glitched form of that emotion (via her full-sadness and Demon/Diablada forms).

Personality

In Auction Day and Extinction Party, an Ena's mood would affect her voice, with her happy/drunk forms sounding masculine and her sad forms sounding feminine. However, in Temptation Stairway, her voice and different emotional states do not have strict correlation, with her voice regularly fluctuating between masculine and feminine regardless of how she feels. She is voiced by Gabe Velez, Lizzie Freeman, and Samuel Meza, with the latter voicing her drunk form only. In her happy state, she seems to be very kind, optimistic, and somewhat insightful to others, even if some treat her rudely. For example, she happily greets and talks to Merci upon finding her in the Maze, despite Merci's translated dialogue revealing she acts aggressive in return and warns Ena about the Maze possibly being dangerous, though Ena seems completely unconcerned or unaware of her friend's advice (but she may not understand Merci and is only comprehending the fake translation). She also appears to talk "proper" and sophisticated, typically substituting various words for longer or more detailed synonyms.

However, mentioning pessimistic things or being in slightly stressful situations, such as large social gatherings, is enough for her to turn into her sad states, where her voice begins to break as if on the verge of tears and she will begin to self-deprecate, usually making disparaging remarks about her intelligence. She seems to talk in a babyish way, pronouncing her Rs and Ls as Ws, and her voice begins to break as if on the verge of crying. This form of her seems to act essentially the same as her previous sad form but is slightly more extreme. She will also often beg to be killed while in this form, as shown in her conversations with Keeper and Phindoll, or will depressingly agree with the notion of death when it is presented, such as when she talks to Robert. Compared to her base form's sad state, her "sadder" form seems to be more frantic with these outbursts, as this side of Ena comes out randomly, though sometimes when she is first experiencing her normal sad state. She sometimes jumps to conclusions, assumes the worst (as when rejected by Keeper, she takes it as rudeness in her sad form, but her "sadder" form takes it as a way of Keeper trying to kill her), and throws random tantrums, contrasting her happy side’s politeness. She can transform into her full-sadness form if she becomes too upset, constantly crying and stomping around, as shown in Temptation Stairway. She also seems to have an easily upset stomach while in this form too, as she is shown vomiting in both Auction Day and Temptation Stairway, the former of which shows her puking out noise. It appears that her happy side takes over as soon as possible whenever she is sad, possibly to keep her from putting herself in serious danger. Whenever this happens, Ena will apologize for her behavior or engage in small talk.

The same seemingly goes for her drunk form, as she will act like she is drunk, of course, laughing at everything and talking in a slower, more slurred manner, and frequently glitch into her Demon and Diablada forms. Ena doesn't seem to mind her different emotional states and is instead more concerned about the impacts they have on her friends. An Ena is also seen to be stubborn in situations that don't directly involve her own emotions, in which she'll quickly abandon, change or split back and forth from her current plans. For example, in the instances at which she is asked to give blood identification in Extinction Party and Temptation Stairway, she quickly switches to her sad side and appears to brush off the need for such actions by shouting.

Trivia

An Ena uses she/her pronouns, as Joel Guerra refers to her as such. An Ena's specie name could be a reference to the Japanese words "笑顔" (egao, smile) and "涙" (namida, tears), likely reflecting that she has a happy and sad side. An Ena's masculine voice used to be voiced by Marc Rafanan in the first episode, but it is now voiced by Gabe Velez. An Ena has a strong love for turrón, as revealed in Temptation Stairway. One line from The Shepherd in Temptation Stairway implies that there is more than one Ena, presumably as a form of species. This is evident after Ena's encounter with The Shepherd, as she comes across a room of three other Enas floating in the void, sometimes glitching into Mannequins for a split second. This is later proven through the Ena seen in Dream BBQ. An Ena smells like chocolate milk.[10] An Ena's appearance at the end of Temptation Stairway is often thought to be her "full-happiness" form, but this has not been confirmed. An Ena's reference art pose appears to be referenced throughout the Season 1 episodes: Before turning into her sadder form at the beginning of Extinction Party, she briefly glitches. During this time, a black-and-white monochrome version of her "reference pose" from above can be seen. In Temptation Stairway, she can be seen swinging back and forth in this pose while talking to The Shepherd. Though it may be a coincidence, the pose she takes while Moony asks her what she thinks the auction item will be in Auction Day is similar to the "reference pose", though the pose appears much more slumped, possibly because Ena is in her sadder form while this happens. According to Joel Guerra, an Ena's specie name is pronounced as "eh-na" as this is the Spanish phonetic pronunciation of the word. Additionally, dialogue from both Merci and The Shepherd both have an Ena's specie name pronounced as "eh-na", which possibly furthers this as an official or canon pronunciation of the name.

Ena smells like chocolate milk Ena's clothes are similar to women's school uniforms in Peru. Ena is "allergic to people", which she mentions in the episode "Stairway to Temptation". Ena starts to feel nauseous when she gets nervous. One of Cowgirl's lines suggests that there may be more than one En, presumably as a form of species. This becomes apparent after Ena's encounter with Cowgirl, when she passes through a room with other Ena floating in the void, sometimes turning into mannequins for a split second.

She doesn't really care about creatures like people, animals and so on. She has black hair, almost in the shape of a triangle, which reach the ground. She didn't go to school

Maze

The Maze is the main setting of the Extinction Party episode. The Maze consists mostly of identical hallways decorated with orange wallpaper with a green and dark orange vine design. At times, the halls contain a green fog that makes viewing beyond the halls of the Maze impossible for anyone on either side of the fog clouds. There are portals within that allow for instantaneous travel between different rooms and hallways. Near one end of the Maze is a long, dizzying, green path filled with lots of fog. Said path ends at a canyon-like landscape with a single stairway leading to an eye-shaped room. While Merci, Robert, Rubik, and Moony are all found within it, further details concerning their presence in the Maze are unknown. The Keeper prevents unwanted visitors from entering the labyrinth, including Ena due to her appearance not meeting the "community's typical standards." Within the Maze are also what appear to be strangely-shaped furniture or decorations. The two types of furniture appear to be a table-like piece with a curved blue base and red vein-like legs (which also has a figure on it resembling a woman) and a bed-like piece consisting of a rough blue bottle-like body with six legs projecting from its sides and a diamond-shaped headboard. Dark humanoid beings outlined in red also appear in the Maze, sitting on tables and unmoving. No character mentions the strange furniture or humanoid creatures, nor do these try to interact with each other or Ena. The Maze is implied to be dangerous for Ena to some extent, as stated by Merci and Robert's translated dialogue. Merci tells Ena to not "accept anything from people around here" while Robert states that events happen in the corridors of the Maze that are "too shameful for words". These events are mysterious in nature as they are never outright seen in the episode nor described beyond the two character interactions.

Overworld

The Overworld is a location appearing in every episode of the first season of the ENA series. The location seems to be the main setting for the series and also where the main character Ena resides. The Overworld also has different appearances ranging across the first three ENA shorts: In Auction Day, it has a dark gray ground with a light gray sky with clouds floating through as well as a 3D model of a cartoon crescent moon spinning in the sky. There is also a large structure in the distance where the Auctioneer resides which consists of an oval-shaped platform with two rotating "arms" and a stairway. In Extinction Party, while appearing only briefly in the beginning, it seems to have had a design change. The ground is a lighter gray while the clouds and moon are absent. The ground has rectangular prisms sticking up from it while a large, blue sofa chair-like object is also present, which opens up to lead to the Maze. In Temptation Stairway, the ground does not have as much noise as in previous episodes. The prisms previously sticking out of the ground in Extinction Party are now large mint-colored pyramid structures. The sky also appears to have white streaks running through it, almost like rain. When The Great Runas arrives, the sky turns green and large clouds quickly move through the sky.

The Great Runas

It was first mentioned in Temptation Stairway. The Great Runas is never outright seen, but its residence is full of landscapes and code that are larger on the inside than it looks on the outside.

The Great Runas || Appearance

The Great Runas is implied to be a god of some sort in the ENA universe, though its true appearance is never seen. Moony comments on Runas's appearance, stating that it "doesn't look all that handsome in person", implying that she was able to see Runas in order to make her wish in Temptation Stairway. Instead of through a physical appearance, The Great Runas's residence is shown as a form of transportation, representing the deity in its place. While parading through the Overworld, it rides atop a large gray structure shaped like a boat with two legs. Decorating the structure are large, thorny vines sprouting purple roses. Mannequins can be seen climbing and falling off of the structure, attempting to reach The Great Runas itself. The entrance to The Great Runas's residence appears as a large arch, similar in shape to a door. The outside of the arch contains jagged points. The space underneath the arch has an orange wall inside it. The face on the wall has a design of a pair of black, empty eyes with tears streaming down it. While parading, the arch also wears a black cape with a starry texture. In the Dead God Graveyard, the arch emits a faint blue glow, while its transportation device and cape are absent. It is unclear if it will have a role in Season 2, even if the Mannequins will appear. She doesn't care about people's well-being, she doesn't worry about problems, she can be rude, but also a little kind.
