Uranohoshi High School is a school located in Uchiura, Numazu, Japan. The high school's summer uniform is designed after a classic white sailor uniform, with a grey collar over a white shirt and a grey skirt. The edges of the collar, sleeves, and shirt are patterned with a double white line running through them. In winter, a cream-colored long-sleeved sweater is added over the shirt. Students wear ties to differentiate their years, with first-years wearing orange, sophomores wearing red, and juniors wearing teal. During the winter, first- and second-years wear ribbons instead, while juniors continue to wear ties. During the transition period when they change from summer to winter uniforms (November-December), the school briefly switches to a black sailor uniform with a triple white line along the edges of the collar and sleeves. The years are not differentiated in this uniform, as everyone wears the same white tie. This uniform was the old winter uniform for the girls of Uranohoshi before the new one was designed to better combat the cold weather, and is kept for a sense of legacy. Uranohoshi is located near Shizuoka Prefecture, in the city of Numazu, in a town called Uchiura. There are currently less than 100 students at the school. The school is currently headed by Mari Ohara, a third-year student.

Yoshiko Tsushima: Yoshiko appears to have chuunibyou, meaning delusions of grandeur (also called "Eighth Grade Syndrome" by translation). She is bright, self-confident, intelligent, and thoughtful. She refers to herself as "Yohane", even crossing out and replacing her real name in her introduction. She describes herself as a fallen angel who has angered God, thus being cursed with extreme bad luck. She encounters all sorts of unforeseen events wherever she goes, for example, when she travels it rains, or when it snows it falls, she has never even won any prizes in raffles, and always gets sick with the flu right before final exams. Because of this, she often blames herself for Aqours' misfortunes. Through her delusional personality, Yoshiko acts dramatic, cunning, and a bit devious, and often goes so far as to wear dark accessories or clothing to further accentuate her "fallen angel" appearance as "Yohane". When acting as herself, Yoshiko's voice is deep. Yoshiko has embraced this side of herself so much that she hates being called by her real name and demands to be addressed as "Yohane". As a result of embracing her "Yohane" side, it is difficult for Yoshiko to act like a normal person, something she is self-conscious about. This causes her to have a hard time getting along with her classmates and sometimes the rest of Aqours. She is often teased by her friends Ruby and Hanamaru for acting like "Yohane", which is annoying to her. Such moments can cause her voice to reveal her real, high-pitched voice. Despite all this, Yoshiko does not have ill will by nature; she treasures her friendship with the rest of Aqours for embracing her "Yohane" side. Because of this, she is fascinated with modern technology, shouting her catchphrase "Mirai zura!" (未来ずら, "It's the future, zura!") when she sees something advanced like a computer. Ruby Kurosawa: Ruby is a first-year student who is the younger sister of Dia Kurosawa, with whom she shares a strong bond. She is from an old family involved in fishery management whose name is well known in the area. The Kurosawa family also owns several businesses including real estate, entertainment, human resources, and restaurant management. Ruby is almost always around her best friend, Hanamaru Kunikida. Ruby is a short girl, with a slim figure, with semi-long red hair that she ties in two pigtails and turquoise eyes. She is 15 years old and is a first-year student at Uranohoshi. Her blood type is A and she is 154 cm tall. She really likes French fries and sweet potatoes. She does not like Wasabi. She is heterosexual. She is a member of Aqours. She is a virgin.

Kurosawa Dia: Proud and perfectionist, she can't stand things done in a messy or incorrect manner. She cares a lot about small details, so much so that she gets angry due to the incorrect reading of a kanji. Due to the strict upbringing she had, she speaks Japanese in a very refined and formal manner. She looks at all of her friends politely, referring to each of them as "-san". Though she always tries to remain dignified and serious, Dia has a short temper and can be quite reckless and dramatic; when she completely denies something, she will use her catchphrase "Buu buu desu wa!" (ブッブーですわ！ "Bzzt bzzt, it's not!"), as if imitating a doorbell. She also tends to become overly jealous when school idols are involved, as she is passionate about the subject. Dia has a slim figure. She has long black hair that she styles with straight bangs on each side and has turquoise eyes. She has a mole on the lower right side of her mouth. Yoú Watanabe: Yoú Watanabe is an energetic, tomboyish, and positive girl with a goal-driven attitude, which can sometimes cause her to act without thinking things through first. Her positive attitude also makes her one of the most charismatic members of the group. As she would like to have her father's job as a ferry captain, she tends to wave when saying her favorite phrase "Yousoro!", often instead of "hello" and "bye. She has a slim figure and is athletic. She has curly light grayish brown hair that reaches down to her shoulders and has light blue eyes. Her birthday is April 17th.
