plot
Star vs. the Forces of Evil is an animated comedy adventure that follows fun-loving magical teen princess, Star Butterfly, who — after a few bold skirmishes with other-worldly monsters — is sent by her Royal Parents to live with the Diaz family on Earth, bringing along her own unique inter-dimensional style to her new planet. With the Diaz's teenage son Marco by her side, this foreign exchange student from another dimension embarks on new adventures battling evil villains throughout the multiverse and in high school, all in an effort to protect her powerful magic wand which she is still figuring out how to use
Mewni
Appearance Mewni looks like a typical fairy tale locale, with various magical creatures and a royal family. Families of nobility include the Butterfly family, the Pony Head family, and the Johansen family. As seen in "Diaz Family Vacation", the occupants residing in the Butterfly Kingdom (ruled over by the Butterfly family) and their place of residence appears to depend on their status in the hierarchy: peasants occupy the lowest land (bottom level), having dirty streets and widespread poverty; then presumably middle-ranking residents occupy the middle section (second level), which is less atrocious than the previous section; and the nobles occupy the highest part of the land where the castle is prominent (top level). This hierarchy appears to have been somewhat dissolved over the course of Eclipsa Butterfly's second reign. Beyond the Butterfly family's kingdom is a swampland, where Mewni's indigenous monster population were forced to flee after the first settlers forced them off of their land. Since Eclipsa reclaimed the throne, however, the monsters have begun reintegrating themselves back into Mewman society. Mewni's main crop is corn, leading to being heavily integrated into Mewni society. The sky on Mewni is pink, in contrast to the blue sky on Earth; however, following the merging of Mewni with Earth, the sky is now a mixture of blue and pink. According to Star and Marco's Guide to Mastering Every Dimension, the royal lineage of the Butterfly family is "matrilineal", meaning the queen holds more authority than the king, and the throne is handed down from the queen to her firstborn daughter. As a result, King River Butterfly (born River Johansen) took his wife's last name upon their marriage. In one case, Prince Jushtin Butterfly was briefly in line to succeed his mother Skywynne as Mewni's ruler, but the birth of his sister Solaria caused him to be superseded. Known locations Butterfly Kingdom: Capital of Mewni, home to the Butterfly family. As of "Conquer", the capital lies in ruins. Butterfly Castle: The castle of the royal family. Tapestry Room: A room in where the previous queens of Mewni are depicted in tapestry. Star calls it the "Grandma Room". Butterfly Groundlands: The area immediately surrounding Butterfly Castle, which includes a village. Marketplace: A common marketplace found within the village. Castles: A pair of castles near to Butterfly Castle. Castle Avarius: The castle in which Ludo and his army previously dwelled. Used to belong to his family before he changed the locks while they were vacationing and took it for his own. It was destroyed in "Storm the Castle", and later rebuilt by Dennis Avarius under his ownership in "Princess Quasar Caterpillar and the Magic Bell". Forest of Certain Death: A dangerous forest occupied by carnivorous plants and monsters, seen in "Diaz Family Vacation". Hydra's Lair: The lair of the Hydra. Castle Avarius II: A dilapidated house that Ludo's parents moved into after he took control of their castle, seen in "Face the Music". Rat bar: A small bar for rats to socially interact and eat porridge. Buff Frog's house: The house where Buff Frog lives with his adopted tadpole children. Corn mine: An underground mine that Ludo used to make monsters grind corn for him. After Ludo abandons it, a group of "alternative monsters" moves in sometime before "Raid the Cave". Monster Temple: Ludo's new home in the mountains that he and his rats, eagle, and spider moved into sometime after "Is Mystery". Destroyed in "Starcrushed". In "Monster Bash", it is revealed to be where Eclipsa Butterfly and her monster husband lived and raised their daughter, Meteora. In season 4, Eclipsa has the temple rebuilt, refurbished, and made into her new castle. New Monstertown: A growing village established at the base of the Monster Temple. Sanctuary: A magic sanctuary/hiding place for the Butterfly family and Magic High Commission. Johansen Kingdom: The kingdom of the Johansens, King Butterfly's born family. Located to the east of Butterfly Castle. Pigeon Kingdom: The kingdom of the pigeons. Located to the west of Butterfly Castle. Jaggy Mountains: The kingdom of the Jaggy royal family. Forest of Unlikely Spider Bites: The kingdom of the Spiderbite royal family. Underworld: A sub-level kingdom located deep in the Mewni underground. Ruled by the Lucitors, Tom's family. Cloud Kingdom of the Pony Heads: A kingdom that spans Mewni's entire sky, just below outer space. Ruled by the Pony Heads, Pony Head's family. Kingdom of the Waterfolk: An undersea kingdom that encompasses all of Mewni's oceans. Ruled by the Waterfolk. Lake of Endless Suffering Dam of Constant Sorrow Bridge of the Inevitable Hereafter Village of Monsters: A small village in Mewni where a community of monsters resides. Pie Island: The home of the Pie Folk. It contains a village, a port, and a volcano (filled with lukewarm tomato sauce) where the Pie Folk make their pies.
Echo creek
Echo Creek is a neighborhood in Los Angeles that serves as the main location of Star vs. the Forces of Evil. It is where Star Butterfly is sent to live and train. Echo Creek Academy is a High School that appears in the Disney XD animated series, Star vs. the Forces of Evil. Located in Echo Creek, it is where Marco Diaz and Star Butterfly attend. The Diaz Family's House is the home of Mr. and Mrs. Diaz, Marco and Mariposa Diaz in the Disney XD animated series, Star vs. the Forces of Evil. It is also where Star Butterfly lives while staying on Earth. When Star moved in, she used her magic wand to create a castle loft on the second floor that juts out of the left side of the house. In Season two, Star accidentally created a new smaller tower. At the end of Season two, Star made the towers disappear when she left for Mewni.
Star Butterfly
Princess Star Butterfly is the titular protagonist of the Disney Channel and Disney XD's animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil. She is an intergalactic princess from the Kingdom of Mewni (located in another dimension). She is sent to Earth by her parents in order to learn how to use the Royal Magic Wand, with supervision from Glossaryck. In Seasons 1-2, she lives with her Earth hosts, the Diaz family. In Season 3, she returns home to Mewni. As of Season 4, she lives in the Monster Temple following the destruction of Butterfly Castle. She was also the 37th Queen of Mewni for four days before giving the kingdom to Eclipsa Butterfly. As of "Doop-Doop", she is back to living on Earth. From "Here to Help" onward, she is Marco Diaz's girlfriend.
Marco Diaz
Marco Ubaldo Diaz is the deuteragonist of Star vs. the Forces of Evil. He is the son of Rafael and Angie Diaz, as well as Star Butterfly's best friend on Earth. From "Lint Catcher" to "Cornonation", he lives on Mewni with Star and her family. As of "Doop-Doop", he goes back to living on Earth with his family. From "Here to Help" onward, he is Star's boyfriend.
Janna Ordonia
Janna Ordonia[8] is a supporting character in Star vs. the Forces of Evil. She is a friend of Star and Marco's and a student at Echo Creek Academy who shows an interest in macabre subjects, the occult, and other things of paranormal origin, and she is often portrayed as mischievous, usually at Marco's expense.
Tom Lucitor
Thomas Draconius "Tom Lucitor" is the demon prince of the Underworld and Star Butterfly's ex-boyfriend. Introduced as an antagonistic character to Marco Diaz, he has since become a recurring character and works with Marco to help Star attain her goals. From "Lint Catcher" to "Sad Teen Hotline", Tom and Star get together again before breaking up a second time.
Realm of Magic
Realm of Magic is an outside dimension where magic originates and travels to all dimensions through a series of ascending gold-colored waterfalls. The realm is home to several unicorns. Anyone who enters the Realm of Magic in a short amount of time will lose their memories and will exhibit childish behavior, but these side effects usually wear off soon after they leave the dimension. The unicorns within the Realm of Magic are immune to this effect. Glossaryck's pudding also counteracts it. In "Cleaved", the Realm of Magic collapses when all magic is destroyed. History In the episode "Toffee", when Star Butterfly uses the Whispering Spell to destroy Ludo's wand, she is transported to a corrupted version of the Realm of Magic, revealing that Toffee had been there corrupting all the magic of the multiverse since the episode "Storm the Castle". In the end, Star manages to use the last vestige of non-corrupted magic to restore the usable magic through the Realm. The Realm of Magic appears again in the season 3 episode "Deep Dive". Star looks for the origin of a strange sound that causes her to open portals while sleeping and travel through a multitude of dimensions. After crossing a lot of portals in her mewberty form, she ends up opening a portal to the Realm of Magic. There, Star discovers that the origin of the call was a unicorn that she created in the episode "Toffee", stating she can only call one who wishes to be called for a reason. Although Star says she must leave, she soon becomes enchanted by the Realm of Magic and begins to lose her memories. Fortunately, Marco manages to use the All-Seeing Eye to find Star and remind her of who she is, allowing her to return. In "Tough Love", when Moon is hit by Meteora's beam while being held by Eclipsa, she opens a portal to the Realm of Magic and disappears through it. In "Divide" and "Conquer", Star returns to the Realm of Magic in search of her mother. When she finally finds her, Moon is shown to have lost all of her memories and is seen completely nude (most of her body obscured by her hair). Despite Star’s attempts to make her mother remember who she is and to take her back home, she succumbs to the realm’s effects and loses her memories as well. After they waste time in the waterfalls to the other dimensions, Star and Moon finally escape when the unicorn that the former created casts them out of the Realm of Magic, stating that neither of them should be there at the moment. In "Jannanigans", Star, Marco, Tom, and Janna discover a well underneath Britta's Tacos connected to the Realm of Magic. In "Mama Star", Star and her friends travel to Mewni and must traverse the Realm of Magic to get there. During the car ride, Marco falls prey to the magic realm's influence, and says to Star that he loves her, and then later has no recollection of it. While there, they encounter multiple unicorns that have been corrupted by dark magic that Moon left behind when "washing" in the magic, including a larger unicorn that the Firstborn has been fighting. In "The Tavern at the End of the Multiverse", Star decides to enact her plan of destroying magic by using the Whispering Spell while in the realm itself. In "Cleaved", Star and Marco go to the Realm of Magic in order to carry out Star's plan, being able to keep their minds clear thanks to the pudding Glossaryck gave them. During this time, they encounter the skull of the deceased Firstborn, who tells them to "get out". Both are then attacked by the corrupted Millhorses as well as Tom, who had also fallen under the influence of magic. While Marco keeps Tom and the Millhorses at bay with the wand, Star - with the help of Moon, Eclipsa, and Meteora and support from the past queens of Mewni - uses the Whispering Spell to destroy the magic. While the Realm of Magic crumbles, Star and Marco stay in order to be together.
