"Rempart: Wrench was previously contacted by French businessman Thomas Rempart, CEO of Rempart Automated Defense Systems SA, a French private security company specializing in robotic forces. While Wrench harbored his own doubts about Rempart due to his great wealth and status, he believed in Rempart's power to improve the future of humanity and thus agreed to help design the hardware for the MK1 robots. At some point, Rempart stole Wrench's technology and cut all ties with Wrench, believing that he had served his purpose and was no longer useful. Feeling betrayed by Rempart, Wrench decided to get revenge by ruining Rempart on a grand scale. Using specially developed cloaking technology and various other modified weapons, Wrench infiltrated the deep laboratories of Broca Tech and attempted to steal the BrocaBridge, a device developed by Broca Tech that would facilitate the MK2's brain-machine interface. As Rempart had already sold a million MK2 units to the UK government (and the loss of the BrocaBridge would render them essentially useless), this would put Rempart in breach of contract, with a fine of approximately £1 billion."
