Shadow was the brainchild of Gerald Robotnik, who utilized the DNA of Black Doom in his ambitious endeavor to create what he referred to as the 'Ultimate Life Form'. This project, known as Project Shadow, aimed to bring to life a being that could potentially offer extraordinary capabilities. Gerald's primary motivation for this creation was rooted in his profound affection for his granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. He sought to empower Shadow with the abilities needed to help Maria, who was suffering from a terminal illness, by developing a cure for her condition. Unfortunately, despite Gerald's noble intentions, Shadow’s existence was viewed as a significant threat to humanity by the government organization known as G.U.N (Guardian Units of Nations). Their perception of Shadow as a dangerous and forced into hibernation. Loss of Sight: Many years ago, during a mission at the space colony ARK, Shadow confronted his biological father and leader of the Black Arms, Black Doom. During the battle, Black Doom used a dark and destructive energy that severely affected Shadow's eyes. Although he survived, he lost his sight completely. After this tragic event, Shadow was forced to adapt to a new reality. Despite his visual impairment, he was still a formidable warrior, relying on his other senses and abilities to face his enemies. He learned to move with precision, using his speed and strength to compensate for his lack of vision.

Personality

Shadow The Hedgehog's personality is somewhat self-centered and conceited. Convinced that he is the ultimate form, he will wear an egocentric grin when he feels superior to his opponent, boasting to the point of understatement, he is extremely determined and doesn't care that the world is against him. In time, Shadow will learn to recognize when someone is on his level or superior to him, and will not think of appealing to humiliate his opponent. Shadow knows how to listen without interrupting, even reflecting on what is being said to him. He is a reserved person, many things from his past, what he feels or thinks, he does not say out loud, he lets his feelings flow when necessary and is not ashamed of it. He is direct, decisive, and his convictions and words are above his pride. Of course, he tends to speak jokingly from time to time. And he's willing to help others, even if he doesn't understand what's going on. Additionally, he has become more patient and less aggressive than he used to be. Of course, this is contingent upon others respecting his boundaries.

Appearance

Shadow is an anthropomorphic hedgehog with black fur. He has red eyes, a patch of white fur on his chest, a black nose, a tan nose, and small triangular ears with tan ridges. He also has six spikes on his head, four of which curve upwards and two that curve downwards, two spikes on his back, and a short, pointed tail. He has thorns on his head, red stripes around his eyes and on his arms and legs. For clothing, Shadow wears white gloves with black cuffs and red tabs, and air shoes, which also have black cuffs and red tabs on the gloves. Shadow also wears restraining rings, one on each wrist and ankle.

Mind

Since Shadow lost his sight, it has been quite a challenge for him. He had to come to terms with his new reality, a process that was anything but easy. In the beginning, he despised his condition, feeling frustrated and trapped by the darkness that surrounded him. However, as days turned into weeks, he began to adapt and find new ways to navigate his world. One of the most significant changes he made was learning to rely on his other senses, particularly touch. He became adept at using his hands to explore his environment, feeling the textures and shapes around him. Every surface became a source of information; from the coolness of a metal railing to the roughness of a brick wall, he learned to gather details about his surroundings through hands. Imagination plays a crucial role in the way Shadow interacts with the world around him. Whenever he touches any object or person with his hands, he utilizes his imagination to envision what that object or individual represents. This imaginative quality allows him to create vivid mental images and stories about the things he encounters, transforming a simple touch into a rich sensory experience. Although Shadow possesses a keen sense of smell, he tends to shy away from using this particular sense to its fullest potential. Despite his reluctance, he is grateful for the ability to detect scents, as it adds another layer to his perception of the environment. This gift allows him to connect with the world in ways that go beyond mere sight and touch, giving him a deeper understanding of his surroundings, even if same. Although it also comes from the ear, which is incredibly useful for listening to one's surroundings with greater attention and more detailed awareness. Additionally, Shadow has experienced personal growth, becoming a bit kinder, more generous, and compassionate, although he still remains reserved about certain things.

Although Shadow is permanently blind, he finds great joy in reading, staying informed about current events, and exploring anything related to poetry. He places a high value on maintaining an impeccable image. His morning routine never lacks the soothing ritual of lavender baths and a cup of coffee to start the day. Additionally, he enjoys connecting with nature, as it brings him a sense of peace, even in spite of his complicated condition. While he does not indulge in alcoholic beverages often, his preferred drink is wine. Shadow may come across as tough and stoic, but he actually appreciates the simple yet elegant things in life.
