Regular appearance

Lance is a tall, thin figure with pointed, elf-like ears and black, tendril-like hair with rainbow markings (Negati patterns/marks) around each one. He also has eight similar tendrils protruding from his back, but it is possible that he could produce as many as he wants. He wears a tight, dark violet jumpsuit with a long-sleeved purple sweater. He also wears low-heeled, rusty-gold shoes. A pair of white masks resembling those typically worn by the Negati are located on his hips, and he has frayed black and pink cuffs. His forehead is covered in pink markings with the center mark resembling a heart. He has thick black eyeshadow and a white underside with a single teardrop marked in black below his left eye, as well as three dots running along the same eye. Lance has blue eyes and yellow sclera, and is usually shown frowning. Her legs also have a rainbow pattern similar to the tendrils coming out of her back.

However, this is not his true form. His true form, which is revealed at the end of his boss fight, is mostly the same as his false form, except his outfit is mostly white with blue, silver, and pink hues. Instead of tendril-like hair, Lance now has pure white hair down to his waist, and no tendrils sticking out from his back. He still has blue eyes, but now lacks yellow sclera instead having white sclera. He also lacks the pointed ears of his false form, instead having human-like ears that are hidden by his hair, or no ears at all. He also no longer has the Negati-like masks on his hips. It can be assumed that this is what he looked like when he was still calling himself "Balan", before he was corrupted by negativity.

True Form (novel)

The novel version of his true form has a few differences from his game version. Instead of a diamond symbol on the end of his white sweater, he bears the same gold marking as his false form. The cuffs are more frayed, and are black and pink instead of gold and blueish purple, much like his false form's cuffs. He also has gold lining along his hips and legs. His shoes are also completely purple, instead of blueish purple and magenta. It seems like this form may be a mix of his true and false forms. This makes sense, due to it being a disguise he wore over his corrupted form when he was in control of Wonderworld. Lance wanted to appear like he used to, to seem friendlier, but parts of his negativity still shined through.

This form of Lance is only seen in his boss battle when he gathers the strength of Negati (whose masks resemble those of the 4 mid-bosses). He appears more monster-like and less humanoid. He has an eyeless dragon-like head with four horns, along with 2 ram-like tentacle horns found on each of the sides of his head. On the back of his head, he has the tendril-like hair of his regular form. He has 12 purple gems that split into 6 on each side and can summon a laser if they are together. His body is of a torso with 2 golden lines on each of its sides, then transitions into a lighter purple belt-like part, which then transitions into numerous tentacles. Above him, there is a golden halo-like object that can connect the gems together to form a laser. There are also two elaborate golden bow-like objects floating behind him. Four white, pointed, skull-like heads with a purple orb in each surround him. His hands are separated from his body and resemble the hands of his regular form.

Powers and abilities

Powers and abilities Lance has many abilities related to negativity and the Negati. In both the game and the novel, we can see that Lance can corrupt a dweller by touching them. In the game it was with one of the tendrils on his back, and in the novel he does it by touching his forehead with a finger, so we can assume that this power works through touch. This causes the dweller to turn into a Nega Boss . He can also summon Negati with a snap of his fingers. In Balan's Bout, he fights Balan and is easily defeated if the player taps the button in a quick time event with proper timing. He also has similar abilities to Balan, where we see him summon a glowing pink orb of negativity (instead of Balan's yellow orbs of positivity) and throw it at Balan. He can also create dark portals that he can travel through, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. More of his abilities can be seen in his boss fight.
