Itona has short, platinum blonde hair at the tips. (In the anime she has silver hair) She has yellow eyes, and from chapter 87 onwards she wears a large scarf in her hair. Originally, Itona had a deep hatred of losing and being weak. He tried to kill Koro-sensei and prove that he was the strongest. Shiro Itona's former caretaker, who found him one night after his father abandoned him. Shiro promised Itona that he would give him power and victory with his technology, modifying and equipping Itona with tentacles. Later when Shiro abandoned him, he ended any relationship. Ryoma Terasaka Terasaka is the person who managed to open Itona's heart and convinced him to change his ways. After Itona recovered and officially joined Class E, he ended up in Terasaka's group. Even though he never misses a chance to call Terasaka an idiot or stupid, the two are good friends.

His favorite subject is Science, while his least favorite is Social Studies. His specialty is electronics. His treasure is a welder that was used by his father. Her seiyuu is Megumi Ogata. He was called "Elevator" during Class E's training using code names. When the tentacles asked him what he wanted to be, he replied, "I want to be strong." Itona is the first student to know Koro-sensei's weak point. He is one of the few people who is called by his first name. Other examples are Nagisa and Karma. Earth is threatened by a powerful monster that has destroyed 70% of the Moon with its power, leaving it permanently in the shape of a crescent moon. The monster claims that within a year, Earth will also be destroyed by it, but offers humanity a chance to avoid that fate. The monster begins working as a teacher in Kunugigaoka High School's Class 3-E, whose students are aiming to kill it. The Japanese government promises a reward of ¥10 billion (US$100 million) to any of the students who can kill the monster. The students name the monster "Koro-sensei" (殺せんせー Korosensei?), a combination of the words Korosenai (殺せない, unkillable?) and sensei (先生, teacher?). However, they soon discover that they are faced with an almost impossible task, partly because Koro-sensei not only has several superpowers at his disposal—including the ability to move at speeds of Mach 20—but also happens to be the best teacher they have ever had, who in addition to helping them improve their grades also helps them solve their personal problems and prospects for the future.
